I developed a strong smell of gas in my 201 Challenger. After much searching , my mechanic found that the top of the tank where the right fuel pump goes was cracked. I contacted Dodge and got nowhere with them as my car was out of the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I asked for the name of the vendor that made the tank and was told that it was "private contractual" information and that they would not release the info. I was going to try to get the vendor to pay for the tank as it was a bad tank from the factory. Very disappointed in Dodge and Chrysler. They are not the Chrysler of old.

First off, I have a 2011 Dodge Challenger SE. Walked to my car to go somewhere when I noticed a fairly strong fuel smell around my car. I naturally was completely surprised and began to investigate. After a little looking around I noticed some gas on the ground (just in front of the rear passenger tire). After looking some more, I saw that the leak was coming from somewhere on the gas tank (as the hoses were fine). Not wanting to mess with gas leaking, setup a time to take my car in and get it fixed (no word on how much it will be yet, but "most likely a seal leaking"). After doing a little research (very little actually).

I read how the Dodge Charger apparently has a BIG fuel leaking problem. As well as I read that the 2015 Dodge Challenger had a recall due to it's fuel system. As listed on the March 2015 recall "O-ring seal and fuel rail crossover hose damage may result in the fuel rail hose connection leaking fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components increases the risk of a vehicle fire." Great, Dodge thinks this is isolated to only ONE year of Challengers??? This is exactly the issue I am having in my 2011 Challenger!

The recall states about "increase risk of fire!" That sounds like a pretty darn safe vehicle to me (sarcasm!) Yet, no other recall to have this problem fixed besides only the one year/model?? How many vehicles need to catch fire? Or worse, how many people must get hurt before Dodge issues a more complete recall? What happens if my car catches on fire on the way to the dealership to have the problem fixed?? Dodge needs to take ownership of this problem now! Why should I have to pay for something that is so obviously a defect and a dodge issue??

Very frustrated and worried challenger owner here. Frustrated about this problem in the first place. Frustrated that Dodge didn't recall more potentially effected vehicles. Worried about my car and my own health while driving it... Completely a pain in the.... This needs to have been addressed and fixed YESTERDAY! I am telling you now, if my car catches fire, Dodge will NEVER hear the end of it. If I get hurt because of this issue, then I am really going to rant and yell like no other! And I can promise you that dodge will be paying more than just to have my car fixed.... Just really don't understand why there isn't a recall on such a SERIOUS and potentially DEADLY problem!! Makes absolutely no sense.
