The transmission gear shift lever interlock spring hook broke off which resulted in locking of the shift lever in "park" position. The issue is very common for Dodge and Chrysler models and it is covered by recall K39 for Dodge Charger models made between 2005 and 2007. The manufacturer denied inclusion of the described condition in the K39 recall stating that my car was made few months beyond the K39 recall dates. From the manufacturer K39 letter( www.Chrysler.com/webselfservice/pdf/K39.pdf) -to prove our commitment to quality, the company is investing in and prioritizing improvements for every vehicle that we build. As part of that commitment, we are also targeting existing vehicles on the road today and contacting our customers to provide these quality improvements, at no charge, that will help to improve your ownership satisfaction -' hogwash.

The 2007 Dodge Charger seized while in gear; loss of control and speed; locked steering wheel, no acceleration, while moving at 3mph in reverse once and while merging onto I-75 @ ~8mph two other times all within 5 weeks of each other but with no indicator warning dash lights illuminating.neither of the auto mechanics could find a problem.the vehicle hasn't seized up, but the vehicle's check engine light and electronic throttle control indicator warning lights came on last week.the Dodge Charger manual says if the electronic throttle control light comes on, to discontinue use of the vehicle until an authorized dealer can evaluate the problem.July 7th 2014 the vehicle went to a certified dealer to be diagnosed. They said they couldn't find a reason for the lights being on.sure enough they ran me up a 900 dollar bill consisting of the following repairs:filter TR 21170001/sealer no 01081003/fluid atf 01081018/antifreeze 01081004/connector 09004009. I was told by the service manager these were the repairs needed: Water outlet housing/transmission hydraulic service w/ programming/air filter/ fuel system cleaning we picked the vehicle up July 10th 2014 from dealership, drove it directly home.my girlfriend drove the vehicle 30 miles to work July 12th 2014, after an 8 hour shift she started the Dodge Charger letting it run idle for 5 minutes before exiting the parking lot.the vehicle was brought to a stop before entering the interstate. When she tried to accelerate the vehicle did not move or make a revving sound, the steering wheel was locked tight but hot air was continuing to blow from vents.no indicator lights were present before during or after the event. The vehicle hadn't physically acted up since the first 3 times 7 months ago, so we immediately called the dealer and she drove it directly there.

Charger 6-cyl

  • 126,000 miles
The first incident happened after I was driving on the freeway for about 30 miles I parked the car with the car on so I can have the air on. I had to move my car and the car wouldn't move. The shifter would move but it didn't seem to change into gear. I had it towed to a transmission shop thinking it was a transmission problem. The shop looked it over and found nothing wrong with the transmission they said it was the brakes that were locked up so they unplugged the ABS and that seemed to fix the problem.the second incident happened when I was driving home from work and came to a stop at an intersection when I pulled away from the light the car hadn't switched gears and wouldn't accelerate. When I parked the car there was a heavy smell of the brakes burning.

Started my 2007 Dodge Charger, went to put car into reverse and was unable to. Car remains in park and unable to move it. Apparently there is a recall on 2006-2007 Dodge Charger, but only selected VIN's, mine was built August 24, 2006 so even though I'm having the same issue as the cars built later my car is not covered under the recall. I am upset, and after research apparently I am not the only one that this has happened to. All 2006-2007 Dodge Chargers should be covered!!!! I am upset!!! I want the recall to be re-opened to cover all the cars regardless of when they were built during 2006-2007. It's apparently the "brake shift interlock".
