The engine stalls out when the accelerator is depressed before lunging forward. It has stalled entirely out and shut down while driving, causing me to thankfully pull over to the shoulder. A rough, lopping idle then dies. Electronic throttle control light has come on and stays on, not blinking.

It is a HAZARD to drive with heavy traffic, and your car just SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING.. Imagine being on the freeway, and all of a sudden, your car stalls, without warning, and completely shuts off. Sound like fun? Nope. Sound dangerous? YES. I have taken my car to the Gresham, Oregon Dodge dealership on Burnside street to report this problem. To my surprise, they tell me "If it does it again, bring it back to us" Excuse me??? If it does it again?? The problem is that this is even happening. You want me to go back out on the road, drive this car in the condition that it is in, and if the car shuts off again, (which it will) then bring it back?? HUH?? Who says that?? A car dealership that doesn't care, apparently.. So, when it shuts off, in traffic or on the freeway, and I could potentially cause an accident because I'm now a hazard on the road, bring it back to you for what? So you can tell me the same thing as before??. Do you not care??? Cars are not supposed to just shut off while driving, but then start right back up. This is ridiculous.. DODGE, if you have multiple people complaining about the same issue with their car, that means there is a flaw.. A problem, that needs to be looked into and not overlooked. Figure out why the Dodge chargers or others are shutting off while driving. I most definitely will be filing a complaint with the BBB and I hope to get a class action suit going as well.. My only hope is that others follow suit. This is a problem that needs to be fixed. Stop overlooking issues with your vehicles and listen to your customers complaints..

I will be driving and my vehicle will shutoff out of nowhere. I put it in park and it starts right backup, when I'm on the freeway it will shutoff and I just turn the key and it restarts. I've took it to the dealership and they kept it for 1 month and couldn't figure out the issue.

I was hoping someone on this forum figured out the issue.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH WITH CRUSE CONTROL WHEN I FELT A ODD VIBRATION, I NOTICED THE CAR WAS OFF. WHILE I WAS COASTING ON TO THE SHOULDER, I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING AND BRAKING WERE HEAVY. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS CAR IS A MOVING DEATH TRAP AND IF NOT FOR THE LIGHT TRAFFIC OR THE SIDE SHOULDER THERE COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN A CRASH AND OR FATALITY.

I had changed the oil as recommended, the dodge charger (2007) when passing on the interstate the engine just stopped with no warning or warning lights and lost all power. It was towed to the dodge dealership in mt Vernon, IL on 8/10/12 and they told me i needed a new motor because of oil sludge build up and the car has records of oil changes, i paid 1250.00 dollars for extended and the dealership said Chrysler would not cover the motor because of oil sludge through no fault of mine. I have had new grand Laredos (3) and 2 dodge ram 1500 trucks and if the void my extended 80,000 miles i have 64,000 and the months are covered 84 months i have 74 months i will never buy dodge or Chrysler cars again.

I have a 2007 Dodge charger and I've got all of my maintenance work done at Mack Masey in El Paso, Texas ( Dodge Dealership) So when my car broke down I had it towed there to see what was wrong. I thought it was the starter but when I get the call telling me it was my engine and it had a sludge problem I was mad as hell. So much for geting all the work on the car done at a dodge dealership.
