Just like all the rest with this complaint. When I fill up my car it reeks of gas inside and the smell is the strongest next to the back passenger door. I've found gas on the ground in the back rear by the tire. This is not safe! Chrysler needs to recall this before an innocent child sitting in that seat gets killed.

smells like gas inside car

My 2011 Dodge Charger leaks gas at the secondary fuel pump. This happens when the gas tank is filled above 3/4 ths. This first occurred back in August 2017 and it's now January 2018 and the only way to avoid this leak is not to fill the tank above 3/4 ths (you have to calculate how much gas to put in the tank during each refill). The leak causes extreme fumes inside of the vehicle. The fumes also are very strong on the outside of the vehicle. When there is a leak, I cannot park my car in the garage because of the strong fumes.

This is a serious safety problem and found that there are many forums and complaints regarding this issue. Dodge has not issued a recall and has not even commented on the problem. I have filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) back in August 2017 and of January 2018 I still have not heard back from NHTSA regarding my complaint. I have followed up with them twice by email and never received a response. This fuel leak is a recurring problem and has occurred each time I filled my tank above 3/4 ths (by accident).

If anyone has any other suggestions on how we can make Dodge realize that this is their fault (faulty pump) and that they need to do a recall, my ears are open! While forums are a nice place to vent frustration, a forum does nothing to fix the problem. https://www.chargerforumz.com/threads/gas-leak-2011-v6.173986/

I cannot fill the tank over half full or the smell is awful in the enclosed garage. When we lifted the back seat the unit that is placed under it was floating in fuel.. Cannot be safe. I have not noticed it on the floor of the garage but the fuel must be going somewhere since the smell is so prevalent. For the past year I have tried to only get half a tank but the Dodge dealer says there is no recall. The part seems to cost $150.00 but since this seems to be a common problem why is Dodge not fixing it?????

I smell an awful odor of gas in my 2011 dodge charger. I didn’t know of the existence of this problem b4 buying the car and now I feel so bad every time I have to drive it. I just felt I have wasted money since no one has had a guaranteed fix for the problem. I’m open to any help to solve this problem cos the car has just been with me for 4 days.

THE CAR SMELLS LIKE GAS almost all time. It's horrible. I have had it to the dealer so many times. One time the guy tells me it's not really gas like I'm stupid. It horrible to ride. The smell is strong no matter what level I fill the tank to. One time I pulled in with it smelling strong of gas in the trunk, the left side of the car, and coming in the A/C. The guy said it made sense it was coming in the A/C because the vent is on the left side of the car for the A/C.

I love this car, but this last year with this problem has been a nightmare. Every time I go they change something, charge me my $100 copay, and it smells like gas again.

Headaches, possible danger to drive, etc... this is CRAZY!
