CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

First owner of this car. After the first winter with it, which it was garage kept, the paint had started to chip off on the rear wheel well. Called Dodge to complain, they said it was due to weather. IT SAW ONE WINTER AND WAS GARAGE KEPT!!!!!

paint chipping off

This picture shows the exact same place as the first time the paint came off. I reported this in January 2015 and it took me until June to get it fixed. Again sending picture after picture. And this time I was told that the warranty would not cover it unless I PAID to have front mud flaps and door edging put on. In the end, that is what I ended up doing. But why should I pay when it is obviously a problem with the car. I went back to the dealership a week later because the door edging was coming off (being pulled off by the other door opening). They just ripped it all off and said that I did not need it. ?????

Dart 3.2L V6

The 2013 Dodge Dart is the worst car I have ever driven. The paint is chipping when I drove it off the lot brand new with three miles on it. The electrics go out about one a year. The car is definitely worth complaining about.

paint chipping off

I've had this car a little over a year and walking to the car one day, I do a double take and I see a chunk of paint missing, starting to rust. Go to dealer and they claim a rock hit it causing the paint to chip, that's going to cost me $347 to fix. Not buying this reasoning. Just trying to squeeze more money out of me. Complain to Chrysler's Marin office and they were totally worthless in helping me. The first and final time I buy a Chrysler product.
