CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

Creaking noise when turning the wheel. Really loud. Dealer blamed the tires. Brought it to the dealership 3x before they finally replaced the strut after I filed a complaint with Dodge themselves about the dealership. Creaking noise was gone after the replacement of strut.

This has been an ongoing issue with this car that started out with my brakes not working right one day. What I (and the mechanic) thought was that I must be leaking brake fluid or something, but no, the problem was that the struts were so wonky and ruining the inner tread on my tires that some of the metal mesh had gotten somehow STUCK in my brake pad.

I took it to the dealership after the emergency trip to Sears because I thought I was having brake issues and they have had my car in the shop for a week now. Apparently these upper front strut plates are on a national backorder.

Dart Limited 2.0L

Kept hearing a rattle in the driver's front end. Took the car to the dealer and they replaced the front strut and mount. Said the strut was leaking and the mount was worn out. All fixed under warranty and they did a great job and followed up.

At first there was a faint noise. I'm pretty sure it was a grinding noise. I was in a parking structure and the noise echoed. I took it in to the dealership they told me that there was a definite noise. They were unable to locate the noise and told me to keep driving the car until it got worse. Few months later. noise got worse.

Took it to the dealership and requested a tech ride along and the service adviser did the ride along with me. Told me that it was the suspension making that noise and they were going to grease it up and put it back together. Yhey had my car for 2 days with no car to drive. I had to pick up my car after the service department was closed and the first thing I noticed was that the noise came back, was not fixed.

Next morning I took it back in and told them. Again they told me to drive the car around and let the grease settle in. A week later the noise was still there. I dropped the car off on Thursday. They had the car for 2 days, didn't call me for an update so I called them on the 3rd day wanting to know what the problem was. They still couldn't figure out the noise and told me not to count on it being done today. So then I asked them for a loner car or a rental car. They told me that they don't have any cars for me and that they will call me if there was any loaners for me. They didn't call.

Today is the 4th day and still no call. I don't know what to do anymore. I am a struggling college student with no car right now and I have class this week. I love Mopar cars and I think they are well built but why did they have to give me one with a lot of problem.

First the power ports stop working, plastic trim on the steering wheel cracks, dash goes crazy and now this weird noises. thanks Dodge for building such good quality cars!!!! (said very sarcastically)

Update from Sep 16, 2015: had my car for 6 days almost 7 still no call. I finally called them and they finally gave me a loaner car.

Update from Sep 21, 2015: its going on 12 days now and I still haven't gotten my car back. I even got an email about a recall on the transmission control module.
