Transmission Stopped Working
2013 Dodge Dart
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Dodge dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

My 2013 Dodge Dart 1.4 Limited always kind of shifted funny. I bought it with 15k miles on it and it now has 150k miles. It started squealing almost as if power steering was going out as I was driving, so I got off interstate quickly as possible. Then it started shaking as if driving over rumble strips, and the service transmission light came on. Since this evidently has a CVT transmission there is no rebuilding it according to several transmission shops and dealership.
So the new transmission through Mopar is $4900 plus labor to install. I got estimates for $6200 to $7000. So, I figured I'd try a used one. Well, the transmission is so rare a used replacement for A/T cost anywhere from $1500 to $1800 - then another $1000 for labor to install. Now, I have a year of $300 payments left for a driveway ornament!!! And this doesn't even touch all the other issues I've had with it before this!!!
