I had my car at my mechanic getting the brakes done and my mechanic discovered the oil in the coolant. They contacted Dodge and I took the car to Dodge to be repaired under warranty. Dodge denied there was a problem accused the mechanic of sabotage (makes no sense since the mechanic advised me to get it repaired for free and they have zero to gain by sending the car elsewhere for repairs). Check engine light came on while driving to Dodge. Dodge said it was a thermostat error and "cleared the code" and refused to do anything other than "flush the oil from the coolant" then returned the car to me. I took the car back to my mechanic who placed a dye in the oil and I drove the car for 6 days and took the car back to my mechanic who observed the oil filling the coolant again and showed me the dye from the oil in the coolant. The car goes back to Dodge tomorrow. This car was purchased brand new (12 miles on it) and has had the following mechanical issues: Transmission mount broke (19,000 miles), transmission leaking fluid (19,000 miles), motor mount broke (30,000 miles), It is on its 3rd battery in two years, shifter cable broke (56,000), and now at 57,000 thermostat and oil in the coolant. I have also complained about a knocking noise in the engine, a clicking noise in the engine, and the engine at times looses power. Absolute worse car I have ever owned I have never had this many problems with any car much less one so new.

rattling noise emanating from var module When I bought the car just over a month ago it made not sound , you could not tell it was running . I parked it outside the hospital , returned 35 minutes later . It began to make the most annoying rattle while in park , but even louder when stopped at lights or reduced speeds . I took it to the Dealership , and was told it was from normal use . and that I could expect it to continue to make this racket . Thanks ! If this is normal , why did it wait till now to begin ? I contacted Dodge , I was told that if I was overly concerned to get a second opinion . But they stood by the technicians opinion . Well the nearest dealership to my home other than the one I bought my car is 35 miles away . I am going to take it I guess But if this is something NORMAL , then I just cannot wait to see what else will be so annoying and normal

Update from Apr 7, 2016: Sorry , the noise is emanating from the V V T module on top of the motor . It does not cause any problems in the way the car handles .. I do have two friends who own 2016 Dodge Darts , neither of them have this problem . And both of those cars have more mileage than mine . I have named every car I have owned , this one has chosen it's own name ....Woody .....Because it sounds as if I have Woody Woodpecker along for the ride .All the rest of my family are not as bothered by Woody as I am .

Update from Apr 9, 2016: Well I made the 60 mile round trip to have Woody checked out . The woodpecking noise is here to stay . It is indeed a NORMAL noise . Caused by a design flaw . The incessant rattle is not fixable . Dodge has had the same complaint according to the second service technician . How FUN . This REALLY PISSES ME OFF

Update from Apr 23, 2016: Update at 2,248 miles noise is louder , my son . It does not make the same noise as Woody

Update from Jul 15, 2016: Well, Woody and I are still chugging along , The noise has not abated , nor lessened . But it has not worsened , nor affected the handling nor performance of my car . I have continued to fall back in love with the car , and the reasons I bought it . The noise is indeed a Dodge related issue . But it is turning out to be a wonderful car .........now bout the sh*tty dealership ????? that is another story ...I will drive it for its first oil change elsewhere . It currently has 6,583 miles . gets an average of 32 mpg . and looks spectactular .
