Make: Dodge model: Durango year: 2006 complaint number: 10308443 summary: I have a 2006 Dodge Durango and when you fill the fuel tank, fuel gushes out of the pipe when the pump shuts off. This happens every time. It is the same thing that the 2005 Durangos were recalled for. I'd like mine recalled. 2005 recall NHTSA campaign number: 09V003000 and 09V003000. The fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve may not fully close at the end of refueling. This could allow some fuel to escape from the vehicle through the filler neck at the end of refueling.

I have a 2006 Dodge Durango, an excessive amount of fuel spillage from the fuel tank. The failure occurs whenever fuel is dispensed into the fuel tank, followed by fuel spraying out of the tank. The fuel nozzle stops when the tank was full with fuel continuously spraying out of the tank. The dealer has the vehicle and is replacing the carbon canister. The symptoms are the same as recall 05V-034.

Just purchased used 2006 Dodge Durango limited upon filling the fuel tank for the first time fuel pump shut off after about 4 gallons and gasoline spewed from tank and filler neck, continued to do the same thing unless I filled the tank very slowly. This seems to be pretty common problem with the Durango and is potentially a serious safety hazard not only to the people filling the vehicle but to others around, not to mention potential damage to vehicle finish.

Every time I fill up my gas tank, it spews gas out at me instead of shutting off the pump. It doesn't matter if I hold the pump or put the stopper thing (not sure the correct name) on, until I physically let go of the handle it continues to overflow. The last fill up it actually went all over me!! I called Chrysler and have a reference # if needed. I have a 2006 Dodge Durango limited, but I have owned it for less than 1 year. It has 70000 miles. I have checked to see if there is a recall, but none exist yet. However, there is a recall on the 2005 Durango. I feel this is a major safety issue and I would hate to see someone injured--myself, my children, someone else who pulls up at the gas station after I have left and drops a cigarette or something causing an explosion, etc.....

When I fill the 2006 Dodge Durango fuel tank with gasoline the pump does not shut off and fuel sprays fuel all over the car, ground and people if in the way. The 2005's were recalled for this. It says there is a problem with the fuel filler vent. It happens at every station regardless of retailer.

Purchased 2006 Dodge Durango new in October 2006. Sometime in 2009 this began: When you refuel the vehicle, the check valve in the fuel tank does not close at the end of refueling and fuel sprays out from the vehicle filler neck. This occurs nearly every time I refuel. Consequences: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. I contacted Dodge to inform them of this. I took the Durango to my dealer and they informed me that I have to order a new fuel tank which is about $700 installed. The dealer service representative also informed me the fuel tanks were on back order due to so many being replaced.

When filling the fuel tank on my 2006 Dodge Durango, gasoline surges out of fuel tank onto the vehicle, the ground and the person filling the vehicle if they are standing too close. As much as a 1/2 pint of fluid may surge out once the tank has been completely filled. This happens every time unless you are filling the tank very slowly. It appears that the paint is being damaged from the gasoline running down the side of the vehicle onto the ground.

I have read complaints from other 06 Durango owners of my problem. There was a recall for the 05 model but not the 06. My gas tank overflows on me and down the side of my car and to the ground. I feel this is unsafe in multiple ways and feel that Dodge should address it.

Recently purchased 2006 Dodge Durango. Everytime I get gas, no matter where I get it, the gas shoots out of the filler tube when it is done filling. This happens no matter how slow it is filling, usually dumping at least a pint, even up to a quart of gas onto the car and the ground creating a very serious fire hazard. This happens everytime I get gas. What can I do?
