The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle, crashing into a wall. The contact sustained injuries to the shoulder. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts did not restrain the contact. The contact called roadside assistance and they disconnected the battery. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The manufacturer advised that they would investigate the crash and the vehicle was towed to a dealer. The dealer determined that the air bags did not deploy because the speed of the vehicle did not trigger air bag deployment specifications. The failure mileage was 85,000.

We own a 2006 Dodge Durango and over the summer while driving my radio started and stopped working, my navigation system starting blinking, and then finally my car stopped working altogether. We found both of the relays to the electrical system on our Durango full of water but when I called the dealership they denied ever hearing of this issue and started that there was no warranty. We shook out the relays, left them unplugged overnight, and used a hair dryer to dry any remaining moisture. As long as I keep my vehicle parked in the garage and unplug the relay after we wash the car we don't have any problems. However, the air bag light was the only warning light that we could not get to go out. Over the weekend I heard on headline news that the 2008 Dodge Caravan are being recalled for moisture getting into the airbags. I called and explained my issue with our 2006 Dodge Durango and they told me that it was not under recall. Interesting to note is that the dealership inquires about the mileage on your vehicle. I was told by their representative that low mileage vehicles can have a chance at "goodwill" repairs but not high mileage vehicles. I'm not sure if 75,000 miles is considered low or high but what is at issue is that Dodge knows that there is an issue but they are not correcting it on all of the defective vehicles only on their 2008S.

The contact called about a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the air bag indicator in the vehicle was illuminated, which meant that the air bags were not functioning. The dealer adjusted the air bags on six different occasions, but the failure persisted. He noticed that the indicator would turn off for a couple of months and then turn back on occasionally while driving various speeds. He spoke with the manufacturer and they stated that the dealer was attempting to repair the vehicle; however, nothing could be done at the time. The current mileage was approximately 37,200 and failure mileage was 14,318.
