Fuel overflows from the inlet when fueling the vehicle. If you attempt to actually fill the tank (which I only get 20 gallons into a 27 gallon tank even when the low fuel light comes on), the fuel will overflow out of the inlet as soon as the handle clicks off. It's not a small amount of overflow either, it's enough that the fuel ends up down the side of the vehicle and into a puddle on the ground. This has caused the only surface rust on the entire vehicle.

I bought the vehicle new and noticed within the first 1000 miles when filling up and using the auto shut off, gas would spill out of the tank on the side of the car. I thought it was the pump itself and tried others. I was told by local Dodge dealer there wasn't a problem and no check engine lights would ever come on indicating an issue. My fuel cap has been replaced several times but I can't use auto shutoff any more with this vehicle. I've gotten use to not filling up but have been told by others this could be dangerous. My car goes in the shop tues 1/9/12 under warranty and wondering what they will say.

This truck was purchased used in November 2011 with 45000 miles. I have filled the tank 3 times and every time the pump auto shut-off clicks and a few cups of fuel overflows and spills down the side of the vehicle. The 2005 model year was recalled with this same problem, but 2007 had not yet been recalled.

My Durango is having the same problem that I see complaints all over the place for. I have the fuel spewing back out of the tank when I am pumping gas...the nozzle will click off, then a geyser shoots out and it's a lot! this is absolutely ridiculous that nothing has been done to recall/fix this problem. How long or how many vehicles is it going to take before any action will take place. Are ya'll waiting for someone to die...a fire...etc?? this is a hazard, not only for the person who is filling up the tank, but for the gas station as well. When this happened to me, my hand burned for the majority of the day, and this was after I washed it several times....not to mention my scrubs were ruined. Something seriously needs to be done to correct this issue before someone gets hurts!

When filling up the gas tank extra gasoline is spit out of the tank which is a fire issue for the gas station. If we are filling the gas tank, when the pump automatically stops gas pours back out of the tank. Also the gas cap light came on recently & the gas cap was replaced but light came back on. I believe this would be the same recall as the 2005 Dodge Durango fuel system gasoline storage tank assembly. We are taking the truck to the dealer in little falls, NJ on Monday, December 26, 2011 for the repairs to be made. If you search the internet you will find other Dodge Durangos with the same issue. There is a youtube video of a 2007 Dodge Durango demonstrating what happens at the end of filling the tank. www.youtube.com/watch?V=fs5U63cn-II.

Upon normal fueling of the vehicle, gas will significantly expel from fuel inlet when the gas station fuel pump shuts off. This causes dangerous fuel to be in contact with people, vehicle, objects and ground at fuel station. This is a condition that was not caused by the owner or from normal operation of the vehicle. This obvious fueling defect is cause for general public concern for many reasons; excessive skin contact with chemicals, threat of major fire or explosion that could injure, harm or kill individuals and is an environmental hazard to the community.

While filling up the fuel tank and relying on the automatic shut off, gas will spew out covering the person standing there, the ground, and the side of the vehicle. Even when approximating the tank being full and trying to control the flow by hand, gasoline will overflow just not with the same force. Besides the annoyance of being covered in and smelling like gasoline, this defect poses major safety risks. Man up Dodge and help us get this fixed.

I just purchased a used Dodge Durango with 28,900 miles on it. I discovered beginning the day I bought it that it is impossible to put gasoline into the Durango without it dumping out approximately a large amount after the hose shuts off. It does not seem to matter if it is an attempt to fill the tank or just to add any amount of gasoline to the vehicle. It always does it about 1 or 2 seconds after the pump clicks off. The gasoline goes down the side of the vehicle and there is always a large puddle on the ground under the vehicle. I am afraid that someday it will catch on fire due to the excessive amount of fuel loss. The is also always a gasoline smell inside the passenger compartment after filling the tank. I have seen many complaints online and also reported to the ntsb regarding this issue. Why is there not a recall?

The fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve does not fully close at the end of refueling. It allows some fuel to escape from the vehicle filler neck. Now the gas cap light message stays on and the check engine light came on and stays on. This was a recall for the 2005 Durango mine is a 2007 is this recall still active for my vehicle?
