The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving approximately 40 mph, the hood opened without warning and caused the windshield to shatter. The driver sustained cuts that did not require medical attention. The police was notified, but the contact was unsure if a police report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven home once the hood was tied down with ropes. The contact inspected the hood and noticed that the hood brackets on both sides were missing bolts. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 14,100.
