I have read of many 4 speed cc transmission failures and that fact has also been confirmed with my dealership. My unit is no longer under factory warranty. My unit has meticulously been maintained in hopes of avoiding problems..to no avail. There is a real problem with these 4spd transmission units.they should be recalled! as well as the trans cooling lines and seals leaking! $1370 out the window!
Transmission would not engage right away on cold mornings. Took the car to a dealership and was advised that the car needed a new transmission. Contacted Dodge Consumer Affairs to complain about the infant failure of the transmission but they did not care and would not work with me. As a result of this I will no longer buy Chrysler products and will advise anyone I know looking for a new car to avoid Chrysler.

The trans only works when at low speeds, too much gas and then it starts to slip or has no gear at all. This has caused problems when trying to cross an intercetion and the trans, will kick out when I'm in the middle with oncomeing traffic. The air only worked for a little while after I got the car. Now it just blows hot air, and has a funny smell to it. It also every now and then will look like frost or fog is coming out the vents, had to replace an 02 senser, was told there is also one more in the car, and its probley bad have bad gas miliage and smells of gas in the main cab.

While driving the vehicle, the automatic transmission malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to slow down which may cause an accident. Also while at a stop and applying the gas pedal, the vehicle moves to reverse, almost causing an accident. Cause unknown.
Transmission shudder. Engine computer intermitenly will not allow transmission into gear. Transmission serviced by dealer. Problem got worse. Transmission was rebuilt at 21,345 miles, now needs to be rebuilt again at 82,800. Chrysler states that the warrantee has expired and they are not responsible. My position is that a transmission should last longer then 60K miles after rebuild. The correct maintainance was done including using the right transmission fluid.
When first starting vehicle it hesitates going into reverse. The vehicle chatters when going through gears and speeds up to 15 mph. Dealer was contacted and repaired the valve body, and reprogrammed the transmission control. Dealer now states that the front seal needs to be replaced. Will out of good gesture pay for the parts only. Consumer must pay $920 in labor. Warranty expired 5 months ago. Dealer was still unable to duplicate the problem, consumer suspects negligence with the dealer.
Consumer states that the original transmission was rebuilt. Owner is now experiencing problems with the transmission. Vehicle often times changes gear and sticks while driving. The dealer has been notified.
Vehicle has many different defects. Dealer replaced 3 transmissions and 1 rebuilt/2 fuel injectors/small block/cv joints/passenger front axle/windshield wiper motor/power windows. These defects are still occurring.
While driving on expressway the vehicle could not be driven over 50 mph because the RPM's kept going up into the red zone. When taken to dealer, dealer stated that the reverse seals were worn and the clutch was burned. The transmission was overhauled.
