While driving engine warning light illuminated then vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to dealership, but dealership did not resolve the problem. The service technician said hat the engine was shot and not worth fixing. The consumer had a new enging put in the vehicle total cost exceeding 5000 dollars.

During an oil change last Friday at sam leman's Dodge in peoria, il I was told that the oil plug retention threads in the oil pan are stripping and I was told that I have to get a new oil pan during my next oil change for my 1999 Dodge Intrepid. This is unacceptable. I don't know all the intricate details about the designs and manufacturing of Dodge, but I would tend to think that the threads should last for longer than 30 times of screwing and unscrewing of the oil plug. So, far this vehicle had less than 30 oil changes. Hence, this problem is unacceptable. I was told that itwould cost me close to $300 to get this fixed. Thanks !

Motor out in drives side back window. Passenger side door sticks and wont open. Engine blows. All major repairs occurred within a four month period, the minor items have been occurring for approx. A year. The car has low miles. I can no longer have repairs made to this vehicle and make payments at the same time. I will return it to the bank. It has been in and out of the shop for the past four months.

My problems started out at a little over 49,000 miles. I was taking my children to school (in my pajamas!!!) & the car overheated. I had to call a tow truck & a friend to help me out with the kids & a ride. Turns out the cooling fan locked up. They replaced it, I was told later by a mechanic I should have been told to have the oil changed (even though it was not time) or they should have changed it because it overheated. 3 weeks later... boom fan blows out again... towed again... fixed again...this time I had the oil changed!! couple weeks later, light turns green, I begin to accelerate, RPM's go crazy, car shuts down in the middle of an intersection (thank god I was not in my jammies that day!). take it in to carmax, they tear it down, tell me sludge in the engine ruined the bearings, my $1500 extended warranty I bought did not cover it, & I now owe them $600 for the work they did to diagnose it!!! it was almost an entire year of paying $522 a month while watching it sit in my driveway. All the tires are now dry rotted... there is rust all over my rotors, my trim has dry rotted & peeled off from my windshield... so I get it fixed... $5623.93 for yet another 2.7L engine.... I will never buy a Dodge again.... niether will any of my family or friends or co-workers or any body else I can talk to about this!! car - $12,000 carmax - $600 warranty - $1500 a year of useless payments - $6264 new tires, trim, battery, etc. - $1000 towing - $300 engine replacement - $5623.93 crappy car so I could go to work - $2500 the true cost of my 99 Intrepid - $29,787.93 yup.... I purchased a 1999 Dodge Intrepid with a 2.7L engine less than a year and a half ago. I maintained regular oil changes and had no problems until all of a sudden the engine started jerking and chugging and would no longer start. Several mechanics checked the car only to tell me that I would need a new engine which would cost $4000-$6000 dollars to rebuild and install. Every mechanic that I have called or talked immediately told me that this was a badly manufactured engine and that these engines usually do not last past 60 or 70,000 miles. Know I am without a car and out of $5000 dollars which is what I paid for the car, and need another $5000 to repair the engine.

My husband took our kids to get haircuts the car was making a funny sound when he got to the salon he shut the car off and it wouldn't restart. A few people passed by and told him it was the starter. $135 later and a new starter installed, it still won't turn over. Upon speaking with a Dodge mechanic at the dealer, he informed me that the car had "jumped timing" and that since it's a zero tolerance engine, it's quite possible that I have a valve stuck open and the part to fix it costs $2,000 plus labor. He also advised me to call Chrysler as, in his words, a car with 46,000 miles on it should not be having these problems.

Needed car for interviews and job if found. Searched for used engine. None found. Contacted mechanic in tallmadge who said he could help. Found engine, used, at cost of $3800 plus repairs. Took 4 months. Need car for employment. Having engine replaced with no guarantee that it will last as these 2.7 L engines are prone to failure. Found many many many complaints and frustrations over these engines on the net. Need help as Chrysler is stating engine sludge my fault even though I followed their manual. No one from daimler-Chrysler will admit any problem exits nor offer any resolution. This has caused numerous financial, mental, and physical stress.

This is a 2.7 liter V-6. after talking to several mechanics and was told basicly this is a through away engine meaning it is not a good engine so basicly I have had to replace this engine twice in 91,000 miles I changed the oil every 3000 miles and had all mantaince done on schedule. I bought the car a 1999 interpid at arburn berwer in Washington. I think that Dodge should recall all these engines and replace them with something good.

On Jun 27, 04 lustine Dodge of woodbridge, Virginia informed me that my engine starting problems in my Dodge Intrepid was a direct result of a recall pertaining to part# C45. I was also informed that the parts are not available and there is no anticipated shipping date. I contacted the recall division at DaimlerChrysler and the recall has been identified, but they could not giver me a shipping date to the lustine doge. The problem can result in the car coming out of park and possibly moving. I also have an additional problem with intermitting starting that is a direct result of the recall. I have never been notified of the recall by DaimlerChrysler prior to my initial contact with lustine. I am concerned that there more customers that are unaware of the potential safety problem. I have also contacted two other Dodge deals in northern Virginia and they are also unable to obtain the parts.
