And even after I had the brakes repaired, there was still significant noise from the front end of the vehicle. Simply a clunker.

brakes make a grinding noise; mechanic says they look new

I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN JANUARY 2016 AND THE BRAKE NOISE STARTED IMMEDIATELY. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC (DUE TO IT HAVING 56K MILES) AND HE SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED NEW AS FAR AS BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. HOWEVER, THIS AWFUL GRINDING NOISE CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AND I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT A LITTLE OVER 1,000 MILES.

I JUST WANT IT FIXED AND FOR SOMEONE TO TELL ME WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THIS FOR OTHER COMPLAINTS (THE INTERNET IS FULL OF THEM ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE). I WISH I HAD DONE MY HOMEWORK BEFORE AGREEING TO BUY THIS VEHICLE.

PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN GET THIS FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!

I had just had my brakes repaired about 2 months prior and had to have them repaired again and now they're going out again. I have had the vehicle for 2 1/2 years and I have had them repaired about 4 times.

Today (4-3-13) the car is at the dealer for the 6th time for the same issue, i.e., brakes make a very loud chatter when they are applied gently (examples: slowing for a traffic light, stop sign, pulling into my garage drive way, etc). The longer the distance driven, the louder the sound becomes. So far the mechanics have: Return 1 - inspected front and rear brakes and returned the car to me; Return 2 - sprayed anti-squeal on brake pads and added clips; Return 3 - reapplied anti-squeal brake spray; Return 4 - resurfaced rotors; Return 5 - adjusted brake calipers and lubed. Hoping for a miracle for Return 6 (today). For the record I never drove more than 1/2 mile away from the dealer's garage when the noise returned. The work on Return 5 lasted for 5 days before the sound returned.

The sound of metal on metal is just a worrisome sound. Am I gonna stop this time? Please let me stop. Brakes are ordered again. I should probably keep a standing order at the local parts store.

I had to pay $ 200.00 for a recall to get my brakes replaced. They have never stopped making noise, brakes have continued to be a big problem but when I take it in to be fixed they tell me NOTHINGS WRONG. When I drive the car the brakes make noise 100% of the time how can think that's normal, or even worse its not happening?

Grinding was going on for a few months but didn't really think there should be a problem with a new car. Took it in and told me brakes needed to be replaced, and that the there was a recall on the brakes....NICE! I can't tell you how many times I've been to the dealer for problems with this Journey. UGH Haven't had it for 2 years yet.

Yes, my dodge journey 2009 will shake as soon as I step on the brake pedal driving between 30 and 40 mph. Previously taken to my Autoland dealership in NJ, they told me that my brake pads were OK, then I only needed to have all 4 rotors resurfaced. they did and charged me $275. Here I am now 6 moths later, they told me they have to do the same thing and change the break pads this time, to cost me close to $450. (didn't let them do it because I am still upset about this)..... I didn't know this is a chronic problem for Dodge journey until I found this website! Tell me about the class action in NJ please.

Part III; Well once again I had to take my Dodge Journey in because of brake squeaking. Had to have the brake pads replaced again. Switch them back to the metallic brake pads and rotor replaced. I have spent more time with this car for brake issues than my 14 year old GMC Suburban. This is ridiculous; I finally called the corporation's complaint line, to make a long story short; they want me to take it in to a dealership, and they said that they would call the dealership ahead of time to let them know I would be bring it in. I called the dealership and spoke with the maintenance Dept at Freedom Chrysler Jeep in Killeen Tx and they said for me to bring it in two days later. I am off on Thursdays but they want me to bring it in on Friday morning which is my work day. I thought that this would have been cleared up due to the fact that I called the Corporation. I am so frustrated with this but I will see it to the end. The taste that I have for Dodge Journeys is not pleasant. I know that they must know of all the complaints on this vehicle brakes. I stop a guy out in the parking lot of Walmart with the same type of car and ask him was he having any problems with his brakes and yes he does. He start telling about his problems with his brakes which are similar to mines. Why not make it more pleasant for your customers if you already know that it is an issue with the brakes for this car? Right now I am pretty up set with the whole thing.

On, June 29,2010, I went to get in my car to go to work and notice that there was a noise with the brakes. And as I keep driving it kept getting worst. So, I return home and parked my car. Now I am having to hop rides to get back and forth to work. I went to my local Dodge Dealer and told the service manager about my brakes and he didn't seemed to be surprise. Then proceeded to tell my husband and me that the brakes was not their responsibilty after 12,000 miles. He said if we notice the problem then we should have taken it, but there wasn't a problem till the 23,000 mile mark.

As of now my car is park. I am missing it already. I called the 800 number in the manual and spoke to one of their person that answered the phone and he proceeded to tell that was not their problem. Little did I know other dodge journey owners were having the same problem. He said they would call me back but i sure that won't happen.

hard to believe that the car needed frnt brakes at 10,000 miles, never had a car that had that problem. Dealership was no help either they didn't seem to care. Brakes on this car are undersize can't handle weight of car. Great engineering

Journey V6

  • Automatic transmission

I took the car because of the brake making noise and they also was waste it. They replace the front rotor and the front brake pad. On 4/27/10, four months after they replace the front brake I took it back and now they stating that the back brake needs to be replace. Now they are charging me $410 to replace the brakes. This is totally frustrating... I submitted a case with the Dodge Dealer.

In addition to having brakes replaced at 9,000 miles, they had to cut the rotors also. Now at 16,000 miles I need to replace rotors and brake pads again!! My previous 2 vehicles didn't need new brakes until over 35,000 miles and never needed rotors. This is crazy!!
