The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact had to use excessive force to steer the vehicle and the braking system malfunctioned. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after multiple attempts. The failure occurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the ignition switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V373000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
