Journey SE 2.4L V4

Car dies while driving. Have to put it in park to restart. Happens every time I stop or am in idle, sometimes while moving. Changed 2 sensors, and still didn't help the problem. Check engine light is on, and diagnostics shows different problems every time it's checked. Hoping to fix, and get rid of this terrible vehicle before it breaks on me again.

Rear door window sometimes works and sometimes not. Usually quits while all the way down. Engine sometimes quits and sometimes goes into a reduced power mode. Could sometimes be started without a key. Recalls fixed for about 1 hour then started dying again.

I've been having problems with my car not starting. I bought a new battery and that wasn't it. It still wouldn't start every time. Two days later I got the ignition recall. I called and made an appointment on Friday and took it on Monday to be fixed. Before I got to work in my borrowed car they called from the dealership to say they don't have the part and it could be months before they do. I called back and asked about a rental because the car is unreliable and they said call Chrysler. Pretty poor customer service. Don't go to Genesee Valley Chrysler in Avon.

My 2009 Journey has been having electrical problems. All of the dash light indicators come on, the gas gauge, speedometer and digital indicators go to zero or dashes, its beeps like when the gas light comes on, and the windshield wipers come on. The radio is out and the turn signals don't work. It continues a cycle of beep, windshield wipers, then silence. It cycles again, over and over...then just stops and everything returns to normal. Of course, the dealer (who has had it three times now for this) can't duplicate the problem. I videotaped the episode on my cell phone and showed it to them. No codes come up. I have had the wiring harness replaced twice now due to a separate air conditioner issue. Any ideas at all????

Update from Feb 7, 2011: The issue ended up being a loose wire behind the radio. After 6 months of being jerked around by one dealership, another one found it in less than 3 hours. Good luck!!!

Journey SXT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Car has had 2 wiring harnesses put in it and 2 power control modules. Shuts off while we are driving, windows come down by themselves with vehicle off and no one around. Car has locked itself with keys in the console. You can start the car and drive it with nothing else working. No heat, lights or radio. There are no codes that come up so, of course, if they cant duplicate the problem, it must not be happening. So frustrating!

just got car from dealer on sat 3/20/10 who replaced all brakes and rotors(previous complaint) 3/22/10 while driving electrical system shut down. window wouldn't go up or down, turn signals didn't work ,head light and tail light out and brake lights out. and windshield wipers, air, heat and radio out. very scary. took vehicle 3/23/10 to another dealer and response modulator was replaced. which mechanic explained was connected to the ignition. I took vehicle to a different dealer this time and warranty covered it. what's next I wonder.
