Journey SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,300 miles

I have a 2009 dodge journey in 2011 with 46,000 miles on it, we started have intermittent problems where the engine starter would not turn on, took it to the dealer and they replaced the starter and it was OK for the next 18 months and now with 68,300 miles on it it is doing it again. It has a new battery 2 mos ago because it happened once then now it has happened again and I can sometimes start it and sometimes not. I am fed up with the whole journey but I am probably going to put another starter in it just in case that might be the problem. That will be about a $350.00 fix at the dealer.

The Journey would not start one morning, when i turned the key there were no lights coming on or anything and the car would not even turn over.I jump started the car and drove it to the Dealer and while driving there it would not shift out of first gear and its about 15 miles away..After the Dealer checked the car they said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. They said that i've had the car 6 months and only put 2000 miles on it and that was not enough to keep the battery charged. i have never heard of such a thing.

I BOUGHT THE 2009 DODGE JOURNEY BECAUSE IT WAS A DECENT CAR AND REASONABLE, THE CAR WILL NOT START AND HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MANY MANY TIMES. IT MAY START AFTER A FEW HOURS OR DAYS. ALL THE LIGHTS COME ON SO IT IS NOT THE BATTERY, I FEEL THE CAR IS A LEMON, IT IS BROKE DOWN IN MY DRIVEWAY AT THE PRESENT TIME, NOT SURE WHERE TO TURN, IF I HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER SHIP, I DON'T THINK THEY WILL FIX IT AFTER I HAVE READ ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THE JOURNEYS, NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, STILL OWE 3 YEARS ON IT, WOULD LIKE TO TRADE IT IN BUT I FEEL IF I TRADE IT IN, IT MAY NOT START WHEN TRADED IN THEREFORE I WILL BE SCREWED. ANY IDEAS FROM OTHER JOURNEY OWNERS, HAS ANYONE HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED???????????????????????. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO TAKE IT TO DODGE AND RAM IT UP THEIR ASS. ANY FEEDBACK WILL BE READ. E-MAIL BFITCH12@AOL.COM.

THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE 2009 DODGE JOURNEY NOT STARTING INTERMITTENTLY. ITS HAS FULL POWER AND ALL THE LIGHT AND RADIO WORKS BUT WONT TURN OVER!!! BATTERY AND STARTER ARE FINE! SPOKE WITH MULTIPLE DODGE DEALERSHIPS AND DENY THE ISSUE! NOT ONLY AM I SCARED TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF WHEN I AM AWAY FROM HOME BECAUSE IT MAY OR MAY NOT START, THE SEATS ARE GROSS. I CAN GET THEM CLEAN. WATER SPOTS THEY MAKE THE CARE LOOK FILTHY! NO CURRENT RECALLS ON THESE ISSUES BUT IF YOU ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES YOU CAN REPORT IT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT DODGE WILL WORK WITH FOR THE RECALLS. WHEN I REPORTED THE ISSUE THEY SAID THERE HAS ONLY BEEN ONE REPORTED! PLEASE CALL THEM IF YOU ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE!

What a big problem! I bought this Dodge Journey 2009 on Aug 2012 and only because we just had a baby girl (I sold my car, sigh, what a mistake!). I'm running in some big problems since this week end. I went to the grocery store on Saturday and when i tried to start the engine on my way back, the engine couldn't start, however, all the lights on the dashboard, the radio and AC were fine. I got towed to my place and the next morning the engine started, i went again to the grocery store and the same problem happened, the engine couldn't start but all the lights were fine. This time the car got towed to the garage but they can not find the problem, where do i sign so Dodge recalls this model and fix the problem? Has anyone got a solution or fix to this problem? One thing for sure i will never do, is to buy a Dodge!!

Journey SKT 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,640 miles

I have experienced several incidents where my car will not start. It begins with a click when I turn the key. It usually starts on the next try, however it gets progressively worst from there, till the point it will not start. When I leave it sitting for 1 to 2 hours it will start first time. It will go for 30 to 45 days before the problem returns. Dealership is unable to find the problem.

Journey V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,000 miles

We have a 2009 Dodge Journey with almost 76,000 miles on it. In the last 6-12 months, periodically, we have an issue that when you try and start the car it will just will not turn over and go to a click. At first, it would crank over after a click or two, but now it happens more often, and we have been close to stranded twice in a month after 30 minutes of trying to wait and crank it over. The windows, radio and AC work after you get the click but does not start. I took it to Dobbs on Friday, 8/17/2012. They ran tests on the starter, wires, the battery all day and could not duplicate the problem. The battery tested a little low. They suggested to replace the starter and battery. Starter ran us $450 parts/labor and battery almost $100. Spent $623 total with oil change as well. Wife got into the car on Monday, 8/20/2012 and CLICK!! Contacted two Dodge Dealerships in Highland IL and Belleville IL on Friday/17 Aug 2012 near our home. The dealership in Belleville, IL had no complaints on this issue and the one in Highland, IL has had several issues with the Dodge Journey's not cranking over. We are tired of dealing with this issue, we just need to get it fixed. I don't know if any of the dealerships have the answer/fix. I'm ready to trade it in.

Journey

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

I can top all your complaints..I bought the Journey in June of 2012, had it 3 days and it wouldn't start, it just went click. Called the dealership where I purchased it and they sent it to the nearest Dodge dealer, where it stayed for 51 days while the win module was changed, TIPM replaced, keys recharged and within one hour of picking it up it wouldn't start, took it back and had the computer replaced, left again and first try after parking it, it wouldn't start again, Took it back, they kept for 7 days, they stated it had started every time. So I took it to another Dodge dealership for a second opinion as to why it won't start, its been there 8 days and they have replaced the starter, performed test after test and still nothing....But after 2 and 1/2 months, 2 car payments later, I still have no car that will start....I personally think I have LEMON...first time buying a Dodge and I can guarantee it will be my LAST!

another journey that won't start. does dodge care? NO. its happened for the past year, getting worse now. the dealer can't fix it. isn't this a LEMON. just buy my car back and give me like $1000 for a down on something else. besides the not starting it eats tires and brakes. about to put the 3rd set of tires on it now - only 40k miles on 2 sets. replaced brakes 2 times and all rotors 1 time. this thing is ridiculous. I would deal with it if it would start every time.

I haven't had this vehicle a year and already I have had to fix the emergency brake wiring, replace the brakes and calipers on the front, replace the battery and now the freaking starter. This vehicle is 3 freaking years old and is unreliable as hell. I have been stranded at least 4 times in the past month. I have taken it in multiple times for it not starting and no one can figure out the problem. I have replaced the battery as told to do by Dodge for this problem and now they are saying it is the starter and want to charge 680.00 to fix the damn thing which i can now see is a major problem that Dodge isn't willing to do anything about but charge you an arm and leg to fix but then it really doesn't fix anything! I am so mad I could spit! This is the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned and I am sick of it all!

so have to say hello i guess, just got my dodge journey (used) had it for 3 months. GF said she had trouble starting the car, but after a few tries it started. never happened to me before about a week a go, same crappy thing. turned the key around and nothing happens, got loads of power (radio,ac,windows,door-lock etc all works) Took me close to 1 hour then it started like nothing had happened. This has to be a key-coding /electrical fault. replacing battery or start engine will not help on this one.also seems to be a really big problem, been looking around for answers and there have to be around 1800 different post on webbie about same thing from all over the world. sadly no good answers so please if anyone have got this fixed post it . so we all can get it fixed.

Purchased this car used, was never told it had a recall or all of the problems that would come with it.... Drove it for several hundred miles no problems. Rotor froze up on the way back from Florida $300.00 repair bill. NOW went to start it and it would not do a thing. Towed it to the dealer and it will cost me $400.00 to replace the switch.

There are many, many complaints about this car, most of which I did not know about until after we purchased it. The dealer will do nothing about it even though they know it is their problem with all of these different BAD parts on this car!!!! Check the web for all of the problems let Dodge know all they will say is too bad!
