The contact's sister-in-law owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated she smelled an abnormal gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact opened the hood and became aware of gasoline bubbling up from the fuel line. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the fuel line needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The mechanic researched and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V814000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,300.
