CarComplaints.com Notes: This is a classic example of why you should avoid the first model year of a new car. Sure, it's new and shiny but there's going to be some growing pains.

The 2005 Magnum has problems with the gear shifter getting stuck, a shaky and sometimes stalled engine and transmission failure at 75,000 miles.

Let someone else deal with those headaches.

I live in Louisiana, 1st time it happened it was 97 degrees w/o the heat index actual temp outside felt like 109!!! thought the coolant was low. Took it to the dealership, coolant levels were fine, system was was fine, Cost me $185 for nothing. Happened again in December, temp was 80 degrees. The blower was in the middle and all of a sudden blower power decreased to practically nothing. Tried adjusting the blower strength....nothing. Got to my destination, when I returned and started the car everything was back to normal. Didn't take it in that time.

After 2 more instances I took it back to the dealership. Told them what was going on. Cost an $85 for them to tell me they couldn't find the problem. Took it to an independent mechanic. He kept it for 4 hours and couldn't find anything wrong. He did however, unlike the dealership, asked 99 questions like when it happened how long it lasted etc.

Bottom line, still a "phantom" pain-in-the-ass-problem!
