first thing after I bought this car last year in September the emergency brake light came on and I reported immediately to the dealer and it was explained to me that a switch for the emergency brakes sometimes stick and all I had to do was pull on the lever to release the brakes and it would go out. Of course it works every time but I am afraid it will engage while I'm driving. Isn't that deadly and a safety issue that the manufacturer should care about? My God can some one do something?
I had the car back to the dealer at least 6 times, starting a few weeks after I bought it new. They replaced the whole emergency break mechanism (over several visits) and asked Chrysler engineering team for help. The Chrysler group never responded so the dealers mechanic finally adjusted the actual emergency brake so that it takes more pressure to engage the brake. It seems to be working but I wonder about the safety factor......
I am currently working with Chrysler to buy the car back, no luck yet!
It's annoying to get in your car and periodically have it tell you you emergency brake is engaged when it's not. Not to mention that I fear it's a sign of a bigger electrical problem. Just in case I'm letting them put my remote start in so I don't void my warranty but they are charging me $600 (can you say dealer rip off).
