HAVE OWNED 3 MAGNUMS 2, 5.7 AND 1 3.5. MY MAGNUM 5.7 HEMI JUST DIED, WILL NOT START. WHEN It DOES, SOUNDS LIKE ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. I AM 78 YEARS OLD AND JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THESE HEMI'S ENGINE FAILURES THE HARD WAY. FULL ENGINE FAILURE. DODGE HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS FOR YEARS. SHAME ON THEM. THESE MAGNUMS ARE NOW COLLECTABLE AND VERY WELL SOUGHT AFTER WITH LOW MILES AND BODY IN EXCELLENT COND. NOW I'M SH*T OUT OF LUCK, AND LOOKING AT $4,200 REPAIR. I HAVE AND EXTENDED WARRANTY AND DON'T KNOW WHETHER I'M COVERED OR NOT. WILL FIND OUT TOMORROW.

Update from Jun 23, 2019: HAD AN EXTENDED WARANTTTY, DENIED, DODGE WANTS $4,750.00 FOR USED ENGINE FROM ANOTHER DODGE MAGNUM,THAT WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, ENGINE FAILURE THAT I AND HUNDREDS OF OTHER BUYERS HAVE,, THIS IS BULLSHIT ,DODGE KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.. I'M 78 YEARS OLD I HAVE ONE CAR THIS DODGE MAGNUM, NOW I AM USING UBER TO GET AROUND, CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX CAR,FOR $4,750.00, CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR. P.S. WHAT DO I DO WITH AN EXCELLENT LOOKING,ALMOST SHOWROOM CONDITION,WITH ,NEW ,TIRES, BATTERY, BRAKES, A/C WORKS FINE CAR ???

Magnum R/T 5.7L V8 Hemi

Drove the car to the store. Came out and started the car and it was running really bad, so bad I had it towed home. I personally thought it was a fuel issue so replaced both fuel pumps. That wasn't it. I opened the hood and pulled a spark plug and sure as sh*t the Number 3 cylinder is toast. Something came apart in the drive train and dropped in into the cylinder. Ruining the Number 3 cylinder and the valves for the Number 3 cylinder. The shop wanted $7,200 to fix it. There are only 142,000 miles on the car, its been garaged and driven nicely for the past 10 years. The rest of the car is in decent shape.

I am the previous owner of a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus and the current owner of a 2007 Dodge Magnum both of which was purchased off of a car lot. My Cirrus gave me a lot of transmission trouble and now I am dealing with a locked engine in my Magnum. After research, it has come to my attention that engine trouble in this vehicle is a known issue. Me wanting to be a loyal customer, find that to be very discouraging. The engine lock came on without warning and is causing a great deal of stress in my life. The Magnum was the only choice for me at the time of purchase, but I am now feeling that my decision may have been a mistake. I would think that Chrysler/Dodge would value their customers enough to make a dependable vehicle and hope to have return customers, but I’m not finding that to be the case. The cost for normal maintenance is already significant, without the added value of huge repairs. Not that it matters to a large corporation like you, but I will be sure to let anyone who is interested and willing to listen know about my Chrysler/Dodge experience.
