I have a 2001 Dodge Ram the dashboard is falling apart there is a defect in the pigment used to make this and other years plastics researching a lot I noticed this is a major problem!!!!!for alot of people this matter needs immediate attention when I hit a bump its like its going to shatter like glass wont be good driving down road and getting plastic shards in mine and passengers eyes!!!!
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram and the dash board is cracking and caving in on the whole dash leaving big holes near the cluster there are jagged pieces falling in behind the dash board hitting wires they want $460 for dash and 500 to install this is a safety issue and should be fixed buy Dodge at no charge this is definitely a big safety issue and with all that gov money the got they need to repair the past with some of it mine will have to be replaced.
Like many others, the dash fell apart...you aren't doing a thing about it until what" someone dies? 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. Everyone I talk to knows someone whose truck did the same thing. If we are in a wreck and the airbag doesn't deploy due to the support system being missing....falling apart totally....then if we die, will something be done to make Chrysler stand good for the repairs? I have contacted them and they want us to pay 800 for our part. No...it is their widespread defect and we will not pay a penny. We have had a fire in the dash as everything is open to the elements now....we had to stop on the side of the road and crawl up under and find the wires burning. Whenever you turned on the key, it smoked and burned. Finally, after the truck was towed home, he traced the wire to the heated mirrors and removed it. Waiting for the next fire, I guess. What a shame for Chrysler to take bailout money and not help customers and ensure their safety. Will someone please step up????"
I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 club cab. I bought the vehicle used with only 2,000 miles on it. With in approx. 3 years the dash started to crack, these cracks have become holes, to the point that my whole dash has collapsed. The frame around the front of the dash has also cracked to the point that only one area at the bottom is holding it on the vehicle. I am very concerned that this will cause a serious accident one day, and am asking that you look into having Chrysler create a recall on this situation. Thank you for your time!

I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab sport. My dash has several cracks which many intersect creating sharp points. I have about an 8-10" hole in my dash. My dash began cracking about 4 or 5 years ago and has continued getting worse. There are 2 other Dodge Ram 1500 regular cabs, 1 being a 1999 and the other a 2001 and they are both cracked as well. No holes in them, but are getting worse.
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 that I've owned 6 years. After about a year the dash started to crack on its own. I progressively got worse to the point that large pieces were falling under the dash frame. I've taken the truck it the Dodge dealer several times and they said that it would cost me around $800 to have it replaced. To me this is a safety hazard in that the already loose pieces as well as other that would brake off in a wreck could cause bodily harm, mostly to the face and eyes.
I bought a Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab brand new in 2001. In 2007 I noticed a crack in the dash that has went from one side to the other and top to bottom. I feel that if the vehicle were to be involved I N a crash pieces of the dash could injure someone's eyes or other parts. I have had contact with Chrysler through a friend and they will not even address the issue ( I am not alone with this problem) with me, all they said was that they do not know who made the product for them, which is a total lie, they have computers they know. I feel that the general public could be hurt by this problem and it should be addressed.
2001 Dodge Ram dash board falling apart, not only are me and my family in danger because of wiring failure but my daughter literally cut her hand on the cracked plastic.
Dashboard crack last week my wife noticed that the dashboard on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab was cracked. We seem to think it may have occurred quite a while ago but was never noticed before.
Dashboard of my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 is cracking all over. I am worried that the airbags will not function correctly if needed. Head lights are no longer staying put, if I hit a bump they move.
Cracked/damaged dashboard agate assy. Sharp edges have tendency to cut/harm persons in vehicle. Broken vents fall into air duct causing harm to A/C sys. Must be replaced before any other issues occur.
I own a 2001 Dodge that (just like everyone else) has many cracks from the windshield to the front of the dash (plastic). This problem started about two yrs after purchase. I am lucky that all of the electrical in the dash still works, but it looks like crap. The sunglass door on the overhead console (plastic) is broken. The cup holder (plastic) is broken. This is crazy everyone with an 01 Dodge Ram knows there was a problem with the plastic that went into the interior. Please do what you can to make these people stand behind there product.
My dash has been cracking out over the last year. The cracks look identical to pictures of other Dodge truck dashes I've seen on the internet and news. I and so many other owners are experiencing cracks that a safety recall should be issued immediately before someone is seriously injured because of the faulty plastic used on all these Dodge trucks.
I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500- whole dash is cracking and falling apart. This could be safety hazard as what if pieces of the dash fall into ac vent and get forced out" or what kind of effect will sunlight have on any wiring exposed by cracks"
My 2001 and my fathers 2002 Dodge Ram pickups both our dashboards are completely cracked and now have cracked the 2002 windshield and are a complete danger if airbags go off will cause shrapnel to fly and cause injury or death Chrysler was contacted of both vehicles and they denied there was any problem. Going over forums and online there are thousands of people with the same problem and Dodge must be held accountable for this.
I currently own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. Since owning the vehicle the dashboard has begun to crack in numerous places for no reason. Dodge refused to recall the vehicle, even though hundreds of other Dodge have had this same issue. Also from news broadcasts about this issue electrical problems have developed which can cause major vehicle safety issues.
