After the truck was purchased, it would begin stalling every morning upon cranking. I noticed this was much more frequent when there was moisture outside like dew, fog, or if it had rained. I eventually found that the distributor cap's contacts were completely corroded and had to be replaced. Also, the condenser coil on the air conditioner broke and had to be replaced costing over a thousand dollars. The dashboard cracked into several large pieces and had to be replaced by Dodge. The glove compartment cracked at the base where the hinges were and became unusable. All of this happened within the first year of buying the vehicle. The rubber pads on the pedals cracked and had to be replaced. The check engine light comes on all the time, nothing is wrong with the truck. The hoses from the gas tank have had to be replaced, clutch plate also had to be replaced along with all three u-joints on the drive shaft. The timing belt had to be replaced along with the power steering pump and hoses shortly after the purchase of this truck. The exhaust was replaced after the first year it had rusted all the way through and would not pass inspection. Now on 10/7/2010 I put radiator fluid in it because it was low and the check engine light came on again. I am starting to think if you fill up the radiator up it over pressurizes the system causing the light to come back on, only advice is buy a code reader and reset the light every time.

These rubber lines are of poorest quailty, almost seemes to be salvaged lines from junk yards and put on new trucks. Had several breaks at different times since the first one cracked.

Ram 1500 SLT 5.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

Check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer I bought it from and was advised I needed some type of plate in the transmission. I declined the $400.00 repair and have not had any problems with the transmission.

At the time, the truck had around 15000 miles on it at the time. It now has 51000 miles on it. I bought a code reader after the check engine light kept coming on, and it always reads that I have some type of emission control leak. Tried a new gas cap, which seemed to work for a while, but the problem returned. I now pay no attention to that light, other than to check the code from time to time to be sure new problems haven't come up.
