The powertrain, recall number, and speed were unknown. The failure mileage was 87,000 and current mileage was 140,000. Updated 01/03/08. Updated 12/31/07
While driving vehicle stalled. Vehicle caught on fire. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. Vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company....consumer was concerned that there might be a problem that was nit peculiar to this vehicle but that could be repeated in other daimler Chrysler vehicles. If there had been a child or an elderly person as a passenger in the vehicle consumer would not be able to get them out before the flames engulfed the vehicle.
While driving 65 mph cruise control stayed engaged when the brakes were depressed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem......cruise control would not disengage. Pulles off the road, put into neutral and shut off engine.
Rpms are racing down and up, and sometimes get stuck in up position. When shifting gears, a clanking noise occurs. Also, when starting up vehicle it will shake. Consumer was told these problems are due to faulty computer and Chrysler will not have a remedy for about 2-3 months. There was noise from rear end when shifting gear. The driver side door was hard to close. The engine had rough idle.
The consant rough idle and sparadic engine miss can not be fixed until daimler-Chrysler builds new software for computer. This is causing bad gas mileage.
