The contact owns a 1995 Eagle Talon. While driving 10 mph, the front driver side of the vehicle dropped to the ground. The mechanic stated that the driver side control arm and ball joint failed. The mechanic made the replacement. Approximately three months later, the contact heard a screeching noise coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. The mechanic stated that the front passenger side control arm and ball joint should be replaced. As of November 13, 2007, the mechanic had not repaired the vehicle. There is a recall for the suspension: Front: Control arm: Lower ball joint (NHTSA campaign id number 00V421002); however, the dealer stated that the recall work had already been performed. The failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage was 95,895.

I own a 95 Eagle Talon and brought it to pro Jeep Eagle in early summer. The staff replaced the drivers side but stated the passenger side was not in need for replacement. I disagreed. This morning as I pulled out of my driveway and into the street, before getting 100 feet my front end fell to the ground. The ball joint broke. I called the dealership and they said they were not responsible, again I disagreed. This could have been a wrongful death. Auto recall date: Apr 05, 1999 vehicle component: Suspension:front:control arm:lower ball joint.

I own a 1995 Eagle Talon which has a safety recall, NHTSA campaign number: 00V421002. I was not notified of the recall by the manufacturer. The recall was discovered when the lower ball joint seperated as I was driving the vehicle. Fortunatley there was no accident. The dealer will not replace the right broken ball joint with the newly designed lateral arm ball joint free of charge. The ball joint I have referred to is the original equipment which was installed on the vehicle at the time of delivery to the first purchaser. The dealership also stated that the left ball joint is also defective and unsafe and needs to be replaced with the newly designed lateral arm ball joint. Their reason for not complying with the recall free of charge is that the vehicle had been lowered. The lowering of the vehicle did not involve the replacement or alterations made on the ball joint lateral arm in any way and does not make the vehicle more difficult to repair. It does not change the fact that the lower lateral arm ball joint is defective and unsafe. The manufacturer did not comply with federal regulation 49 cfr part 577 requiring notification to purchasers of safety recalls. (Chrysler has my owner information on file.) title 49 of the usc states the manufacturer is responsible to replace free of charge, any safety- related defect of an item of original equipment. Thank you.

The dealership only replaced the right side ball joint under recall 00 V 421 002, but the left ball joint also failed. While in motion the ball joint separated. The left front tire locked up, the axle broke, and the vehicle skidded into a ditch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed the recall (#00V421002) before, where they only replaced the right ball joint. The dealers negligence was the cause of the problem.

My complaint is in regards to a serious defect/crash hazard in suspension: Front:control arm: Lower ball joint defect that has been recalled (id 00V421002, Dec 15, 2000) last week my daughter had just got off the interstate and her right front ball joint broke completely off with no warning or sign of wear. This also caused the axle to pull away completely. I got the car fixed, and believe it or not the left side let go today, again just as she got off the interstate on her way home from school. A year ago or so we had them checked because of the recall and they said they were ok. I think they were defective from the start. Ball joints should not have a traumatic failure like this with no warning or sign of wear. This is a serious problem which needs to be taken care of immediately before some one gets hurt. I also feel that the manufacture should be responsible for my costs which have now totaled about $800. Please help me in this matter and let me know who else I should be talking to. I am not going to let this one slide by.

I owned a 1995 Eagle Talon that I took in to the Chrysler dealer to inspect a ball joint recall and inspect a belt. They said the ball joint was ok and fixed the belt problem. About 3 months later I was turning into a gas station and the vehicles ball joint fell off. Im not sure of the date of incident sop I entered a generic date. I sold the vehicle over a year ago but I forgot to submit this investigation to your dept. Please look into this because there mechanics don't know what's going on and the "investigations specialist" did not even look at the car because it was not convenient for him he stated. I could of died if this happened at an intersection where I was crossing I could of killed someone or myself. Or if I was traveling faster than 10-15 mph it could of been much more serious than what it was. Property damaged was occurred only on my car. The crash was not with another vehicle but me sliding into a curb. Another dealer fixed the damage free of charge but I had to fight Chrysler to pay for my broken fog light.
