This is just the first time I had to replace the rear differential. I had to do it again 2 years later. It's extremely expensive and a royal pain because it's hard to get the part.

Escape Hybrid

This was the second time in three years that the rear differential had to be replaced. It took over two weeks to get it replaced. This should have lasted me the rest of my cars life and it went out in two years.

Roar in back end for some time - had it in and serviced but no problem ID'd - until no more warranty - now Rear differential is shot - and $3900 to have it fixed. The mechanic at Ford says the differential should last the life of the car. I am totally disgusted. no accountability from Ford.

Escape Hybrid V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

Ford has a 3 week backlog and technician's are reporting this is a nationwide issue! Ford has to make the replacement parts. Why do we have to wait years for a recall on this terrible mistake on the transmission that's happening to these Escapes with low miles? Why is this car still receiving high marks at Edmunds.com! It's a huge and expensive problem and fix. Now I have to start searching a salvage yard for the part!
