Started out sounding like a lifter pecking, like when u get between the walls of Mcdonalds. thought it was bad gas. had oil changed at walmart every 3000 miles with castrol oil10/40. took it in for plugs and wires, maintenance work at 88,000 miles and see what noise was. the man told us it sounded like timing chain adjusters(sounded real bad when first started up in morning) man replaced only one of them then noticed metal in the oil. (also did i mention transmission also started slipping) he changed trans oil and filter still not working. told us that ford was having problems with these cars. a used motor will cost 1000 to 3200 to replace it 600 for man to put in and praying this will help trans problem probably wont. i bought this car at 32,000 miles almost traded in when it started the pecking sound but did not want to take a 900 loss( also wanted to see what it felt like in life to have no car payments) LOL.car has been paid for for 8 months i will never buy another ford and we own 3 more of them all trucks. FORD SAID I SHOULD HAVE USED THERE OIL THAT IS THE ONLY OIL THEY RECOMMEND. my mech recommends vavlevoline.
