The GEM is a computer that controls a lot of simple functions on the truck (windshield wipers, HVAC blower fan, passenger side air bag light, and more). The problem is that the front window or side door leaks and when it rains the module gets wet and shorts out. This is a very common issue that actually has potentially dangerous results. I've actually had my wipers fail on me while in a rain storm. Good thing I was not on the freeway. Also when the HVAC blower fan stays on it drains the battery dead. This happens to me all the time and to combat it I have to disconnect my battery every time I park the truck. Real good time there. The GEM can be replaced to fix this but it will always be an issue with water leaking on it. So at some point you will probably have the same issue again. The GEM is located behind the fuse panel so I wonder how long it will be till that shorts out because of the same leak.
