Since I got the truck from my parents I treated it like a baby. But since I hit 80 thousand miles the transmission has been acting up. It only happens when it goes to 2nd gear. The truck jumps the gear.

F-150 FX4 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

This truck has given me issues since I bought it used back in 2014. It's always had the slip/bump thing and I've kinda got used to it. Now, the tranny is slipping very badly, especially while going up a hill, kicking into a lower gear. So, I have reached my end on this truck seeing as it slipped out of gear going down the highway and brakes slammed on very briefly. Scared the sh*t out of me!! Not to say just flat out dangerous. I had to pull over, turn truck off a couple of times and it finally would go back into gear. I limped to the shop. Now, I'm reading all the issues and I'm being told this tranny is simply junk!! Wth is ford putting out suck a lemon? I love ford trucks but this sh*t is making go another route. Maybe a chevy! There is no telling what this sh*t is going to run me to fix. Piece of crap!!

F-150 FX4 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

I was on my way to Florida for vacation when my transmission started shifting hard on inclines. Seems like the it was between gears 4 thru 6. Funny thing is I had just had my transmission serviced because of the constant shuddering but I was told the shuddering was normal since I 've owned the truck.

FX4 Slams hard into gear when accelerating quickly! You hear a loud noise! In at dealer now, they THINK there may be a recall? Will update if this is the case.

shudder shifting from park or drive to reverse

When you shift into reverse and step on the gas it felt like a broken motor mount kind of sound, a shudder, slipping feeling, not a good sound or feel, I found if you wait a few seconds before pressing the gas peddle its ok, I thought from being an old world mechanic that it seemed like something in the valve body was not right, I took it to the dealer soon after, the mechanic took out the drive shaft and lubricated the splines lol! it didn't help at all! that was 2010, I lived with it, last year 2015, I spent $3000 for the extended warranty I figured I might need it after a few other problems cropped up, so this time the mechanic changed something in the valve body and its been fine since, but see my other problems coming soon, hard sledge hammer down shifts!
