The owners manual says to use the plastic fuel fill nozzle that came with the truck to clear the error by inserting it several times but it may not clear the error. Who wants to hear "it may not clear the error"?? If you know that it is a potential problem then FIX IT before you start selling people a $49,000 plus headache.

The fact that there isn't a recall on this is mind blowing, what with so many people across different Ford vehicles with the same complaint?!

I love my Ford but I'm hating Ford right now!!!

The check fuel inlet light first came on when the vehicle was less than three years old. Was told by the service people at the Ford dealer in Carson City not to worry, it sometime happens when the car is in really cold weather.. I live in Lake Tahoe and it had been in the low teens. I cleared message by hitting reset. A few weeks later it happened again and again and I kept clearing it by hitting reset. Then check engine light came on.

Went to the dealer and he said I needed to stick the plastic fuel fill spout in the tank fill slot and it should be good. He said for his people to do this was $125. He used his computer to clear the check engine light. This was on Jan 12. Seven days after my warranty ran out. He said he has seen this problem a lot. I asked if Ford has a fix for it and he said no. I asked if there was a retro fit fuel cap I could buy and he said no. Now today 14 Feb I am having the same problems. Anyone having this problem? Know how to fix?
