My 2016 F150 5.0 supercrewhas started to regularly stall when idling in park or when braking or coasting when coming to a intersection. I can immediately restart upon putting in park or neutral. Sometimes a check engine light comes on. Upon googling the problem it seems pretty common with no answers of certainty.

I experienced an electrical failure that was intermittent at first but became worst over time. With this failure I would lose steering and vehicle advance track as well as ABS brake function. When electrical power was lost the electrical power steering would stop functioning causing complete lose of steering. This caused me to cross into oncoming traffic, luckily there was no one in the oncoming lane. The dealer found a wire going to the alternator that had worn through causing an over voltage condition. This caused many of the systems, including steering, to shut down. In my research this is not the only occurrence of this issue. My vehicle has 42,000 miles on it. I would guess this will become a much more common issue with time.

Driving normally on four lane divided state road when warnings about various system failures came up on dash (traction control, braking, charging system). Power steering stopped working first then truck shut down. Got jump started thinking battery or alternator and truck drove normally for a few minutes then same scenario repeated.

Have had this vehicle to dealer multiple times with complaint of hearing rattling under vehicle and in steering column along with noise from right front brake area. Also with complaints of vehicles wandering left and right on highway regardless of road crown. Have asked specifically to check the electric steering to ensure not faulty. All these complaints while still under original warranty. Today, two weeks after last visit, steering locks up while driving and I cannot turn the vehicle. Fortunately, I was on my property going slow and was able to stop safely. I was driving home and drove 30 miles on the interstate doing 70mph. Glad the steering did not freeze then. Shut the vehicle off and then restarted it and got the 'steering assist fault service required' on the cluster along with a bunch of other symbols. The sync screen came up and froze and could not be cleared nor was it responsive to any other selections on screen. I think this is an electrical issue with either the electric steering, a sensor or possible low or interrupted voltage. This vehicle has no voltage gauge for battery nor was there any indicator that warned of a low voltage issue when the steering wheel would not turn. Is NHTSA waiting for someone to be killed with this problem before it is investigated? I am waiting until Monday when dealer opens to have them come get this vehicle. I am afraid to even attempt to do anything to it to drive it to dealer for service. I am uploading the latest service invoice for this issue. Dealer has consistently stated there was nothing wrong.

When backing the truck down the driveway at a low speed. The steering wheel locked at the moment you have to cut left to avoid a neighborhood watch sign that sits adjacent the driveway. The left mirror broke off, impacting the left front quarter panel resulting in approximately $1,500 damage to the vehicle. I also damaged the community sign requiring repair. As noted in other NHTSA reports, diagnostic tests were void of steering codes. Battery failure was noted however even though a battery indicator light on the instrument panel never appeared. The dealership document noted 'load tested battery failed ' recommend battery ' can cause electrical issues.' In other words, epas failed or locked due to a battery issue that was not displayed on the console.

One week ago left work and turned on truck. When starting to pull out of parking space ABS light came on dash. After getting home and calling dealer to have inspection, was informed it would be 2 weeks to get in for service. As vehicle is daily driver continued to drive around town and to work, a few days after regular use steering column started getting harder to turn and developed clicking sound. Called another mechanic to get in sooner and before could make that appointment scheduled for two days later entire steering column locked up and vehicle is unusable. Being towed to repair shop today. Luckily was not driving when column locked up. Had started vehicle in driveway and was planning on going to store when unable to back up because steering columns/wheel would not move. Now awaiting work from repair shop on doagnsostics and issue to repair. Very frustrated as vehicle less than 3 years old and with only 70K miles.

Steering started to get tight while turning, this would only happen periodically. Then while I was exiting a freeway while pulling a trailer I lost all power steering and almost wrecked, the advancetrac service light and the electronic steering light came on. I had the truck towed to a service center to find out the front rack assembly needs to be replaced, truck is 2 1/2 years old and has 77,000 miles.

An unsafe, road hazard, a booby trap F150 truck. This is what I got from a Ford dealer in covington. An unsafe truck.whose fault that the truck is on the roads" would like to find out. Ford comp. Or the dealer? we are an older, seniors, minority couple just trying to buy our first F150 truck. On Dec. 31st 2018, bought a 2016 F150 Ford truck from this dealer. I was told that this truck is covered by a special Ford comp. Take back the truck. I have his message on my voice mail. They will try to fix it full warranty being a buy back truck, including even the light bulbs, on top of the regular warranty.. said that vibration came from the wheels no, called them again, sent them few emails. I told them that I will go on a hunger strike in front of their dealer. Finally, the owner, math, called me to or they will give me another truck. They knew that the truck is not safe to drive on the streets. It's road hazard. And not talking about the smoke inside the cabin. You can die of suffocation. Drove another our or so to their dealer. Had erddyn, the seller guy to drive test the truck. After few minutes of drive, we noticed the vibration. He said is normal. Then it started to vibrate even worst. I asked him about the strong smoke smell. Did not say anything. Got back to the dealer, inspected the truck.the truck was in good shape. After 2 hours of talk with the owner, they offer me get me another truck. Older year model, inferior class. Did not accepted, so, they said hit the road. And left after wasting over 3 hours. So, here I am with a very unsafe truck driving on the roads. Sooner or later an accident is gonna happen, or me dying of suffocation in the cabin. No. I'm gonna protest in front of their dealer, and then I'm gonna do the same in front Ford Motor Company headquarter. Is their fault too. Putting back on the roads a unsafe car" and covington Ford to sell it.

While driving the interior instrument lights suddenly come on park brake, 4X4, air bag, traction, ABS, advance trac, and steering assist. During this process the brakes engage & then you can hear the scrubbing sound of the brakes.this has happened multiple times. I've returned it to the dealer for service 3 times, after a month of diagnostic testing & road testing the steering system failed on the serviceman while driving it. They informed me that they want to return the vehicle to me without making any repairs because it has not re initiated this process in the last 3 days. This is a safety hazard for me and any other vehicle on the road. Ford has informed me that if the steering goes out while driving call roadside to bring it back. Total disregard for my safety and or anyone else. This event occurs while driving, it also shows these readings upon starting the vehicle. This has happened under 30,000 miles and over that threshold. It has happened on multiple occasions.

Epas system exhibits wander on center when driving straight down highway making it hard to control and keep in lane. This happens with lkas off or on. Steering wheel has a clunk and excessive play between L & R inputs. Experience is symptomatic of a worn mechanical steering rack. Ford dealer claims it is normal, but my truck does not drive like other vehicles.

I have a 2016 Ford F-150 with roughly 40,000 miles on it. My truck has been out of service since September 16th, with a steering issue. The electronic power assist steering (epas) went out on the truck driving home from costco that evening with my 3 year old son and girlfriend in the car, I attempted to take a right turn and the steering locked up on me, nearly causing us to crash. The next day I took it to bill brandt Ford in brentwood ca, but they wanted $170 just to diagnose it, so I declined the service because I have a friend that is a mechanic for tri delta transit and he was able to diagnose it for free. He found out it was the epas, and that I had to replace the whole rack and pinion, which is about a $1,300 part. This issue should not be happening on such a new vehicle, but since I am 4,000 miles over the bumper to bumper warranty I have no choice but to pay for the new part for my truck. The issue with Ford is, since the truck is so new there are no other companies carrying that part besides Ford at the moment. I called their parts service around September 20th to order the part but they stated it was on back order until October 9th and were not taking any orders. I patiently waited until October 9th and called back to order it and they said it has been pushed back to late October and to call back at the end of the month. This is a real big inconvience for me especially being employed and having a young child, I have been without a vehicle for almost a full month now. I've reached out to Ford and talked to their regional manager trying to explain the issue and if there was anything they could do for me, like a rental car or get the part asap for me, but she stated there was nothing they can do. After doing extensive research I have found out that this steering defect is a pretty common issue Ford F-150 owners are experiencing.

I have no power steering and a code for that. Also codes for hill decent, hill assist, traction control. Also cruise control does not work for does my radio source selection. As of now that is all that I have found not working. These problems all happened at the same time. Steering is almost impossible and is a big safety factor.
