A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Yesterday was the 2nd time I had my clutch assembly replaced. The first time was in 2014 about a year after I bought the car. They should have replaced the whole car!!! I also had a few times went back to the workshop for diagnostic and adjustment.

Today, the jerking went away (like 2014 situation) but still can hear clicking sound like it was before. Not sure how long this issue will go away. I believe it will come back. Feel tired got to go back & forth to the workshop, apply for leave (since I'm working for a company) to do that. Asked for a car during the replacement works (4~7 days) but all I got was, no we don't have any. What a service!!! If this continues ( I can't sell this spoilt unit), it will go to the scarp yard and yes...will share this bad experience in social media. Don't want people to get into this trap. This will be my 1st & the last FORD....shame on you.

Fiesta S 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission

The clutch/gear is having serious problem in the following sense:

1. The ride is very choppy (jerking) and the gear change noise is excruciating like you are driving on a rough loose gravel road. 2. In a bumper to bump crawl, it is just waiting for an accident to happen because the clutch release erratically and the car suddenly surge/spurt forward or it response very slowly when you press the throttle to move forward. It is like riding a rocking horse. 3. Since the clutch/gear exchange is rough and not smoothly executed, concentration to prevent it banging on the back of someone or someone banging from behind when it pull back before it dash forward. Driving the Fiesta is a tormenting experience – a very stressful one indeed. 4. Ford must recognize and take this matter seriously before any untoward incident happens which will damage the name of Ford when it can ill afford to.

Many have criticized the PowerShift's rough starts and lack of smooth shifting, but Ford has continually released (but not publicized) upgrades to transmission software and firmware designed to address these concerns which still don’t resolve my car problem. This is definitely a manufacturing defect and particularly has early onset in a country that is hot and humid - everyday is summer.

Ford must recall or replace the clutch/gear/transmission to a proper automatic system!
