Intermittent problem "engine malfunction service now" light comes on. When it first happen I told the dealer service department about it and was told not to worry about it because it always resets when you shut the car off and restart it. They need the light on when you bring it in to read the code. I was happening so few and far between it wasn't that big a deal (about every 6 months) lately more often. My last 2 trips to Pittsburgh the light came on once on each trip.

Last weekend on a trip to Mississippi I went 70 miles and the light had come on 4 times, OK now this is a problem and start some research only to find 11 pages of complaints about this light coming on. I have 75K and counting as I do a lot of highway driving I know it's a low end car but was purchased for the gas mileage which is great. I hope Ford answers the call on this serious and costly situation and do a recall without being forced to do so.

My repair shop told me it's a drive by wire system with the accelerator pedal and throttle body being replaced (recommended) for repair. It uses a RF signal that sometimes gets interrupted. It's the same problem Toyota had with there gas pedals sticking (blamed on floor mats first) only theirs would accelerate when sticking (people were killed), while Fords decelerates. Ford knew for years about this problem and did nothing and the dealers too, they go to Nutsville when you come in so they can delay and not repair.

This may take a class action lawsuit to get done but I hope Ford will do the right thing first. Ford KNOWS this problem exists take care of it before someone gets hurt.

My problem started with an error message on the display "engine malfunction. service now".

Sent to Jalan Ipoh service center & they said it was due to a sensor and changed it. Complained about jerking issues when accelerating. Told me clutch needs to be changed and gave an appointment.

Brought back my car and it was working fine, but after 3 days, as i started my car, shifted the gear to D and stepped on the accelerator, car was not moving (accelerator was not working at all). Towed my car to the service center and the accelerator was working fine. The staffs told me that since it is fine, they can't detect anything wrong with it. I told them to get the clutch changed since i am not going to come back on the appointment date.

After 3 days went to collect my car, only to find the accelerator not working again. Showed the staff and they said will check. After 3 days, they called me and said the accelerator sensor was working intermittently and have changed it. Again, i went to collect my car, and the accelerator was just not working. The staffs said they had no idea why this is happening and they said they are going to try and change the whole accelerator shaft.

One week and still issue not resolved. I wrote a complain email to Ford Auto Connexion. The next day, i received a call form Mr. Vignesh from Ford Jalan Ipoh and said that they are looking into the issue and meantime are going to loan me a car. I went and collected my car.

After a week, i called to check the status, and the staff there said that the engineers are suspecting some wiring problem and are checking on that. Called in today and was told that the engineers now suspect that the electrical board is working intermittently and are going to replace it and see. Will have to wait for another 3-5 days.

My question is why cant FORD engineers & technicians cant figure out the problem? Aren't they supposed to be trained on this? This issue is yet to be resolved almost for a month. This is getting very frustrating. I have lost all confidence on the car and on FORD. NEVER going to purchase another FORD in my life.

My car is a 2013 manufactured model, just purchased in May 2014.
