Had to replace an ignition coil for a misfire obd code. After replacing coil problem still existed, so I researched online and found a great number of other Fusion owners who have had this same problem. Now I am supposed to replace all the ignition coils and the PCM. With the number of affected vehicles being staggering I feel that there needs to be a recall for this issue.

I was driving at about 60 mph and suddenly I felt the vehicle have some type of loss of power. I tried to press on the gas pedal and the car would not accelerate and the RPM odometer was "jumping" from 1 to 1.5 and the idle was horribly rough.the motor sounded like it was a forced idle. I pulled to the side of the road and opened the hood to see what was going on, I checked everything to see if maybe there was anything loose or something in there and there was nothing that I could see spot on or notice spot on. I did some research on the 'symptoms" and cleaning or forcing shut the throttle actuator was the number one thing that kept showing. So I pulled everything apart and cleaned it and sprayed some wd-40. Once I out everything back together I then started the vehicle and the wrench light turned off and it was running like normal.

This car had a history of lost power/stall while driving on city and highways without any symptoms nor warnings. My particular concern was last week it lost power/stall while driving on multi-lane eb I-96 from detroit to grand rapids, mi, which we had to perform emergency evasive actions to get out of the busy highway traffic to avoid collision/accident that may result with personal injury or death. It had no symptoms nor warning. The car simple lost power reduce to idle speed at around 600 RPM. It failed to response to cruise control, gas pedal control. Mechanic determined that the cause likely the throttle body assembly or the mass airflow switch. Both of them are not serviceable parts and not relate to maintenance, wear or tear. This car had been serviced by Ford dealer since we bought it new. No advice or anything was given about this problem. I believe this is a manufacturer defect which has detrimental effect on safety that needs to be investigated. Thank you.

My car has a history of lost power/stall during normal driving, it is happening more frequent so I want to file this complain to have some investigation. While accelerating to merge to the highway traffic/speed, the engine lost power and not response to pressing on the gas pedal. My wife had to steer the car back to the shoulder to avoid accident. This car is service by Ford dealer under purchased maintenance plan since we bought it new. There was no mention to service the intake/throttle body assembly, which is not serviceable. I understand this car share same platform with Ford escape which had a recall on the throttle body assembly last year. I wonder this car mode should be recalled to fix the problem.

Car jolted while cruising at 70 mph on the interstate, then went in to like a first gear and high RPM. All the dashboard gauges, lights and radio went off. Put in neutral and everything came back on and functioned. Put back in drive and the same issue with gear, speed, gauges, etc. Returned. Back in neutral so I could use my flashers and after coasting for a little bit the entire car shut down and would not come back on. Had to tow to a nearby dealership (54 miles away) where they are telling me the throttle body has failed and needs replaced.

Car jolted then went in to like a first gear with high RPM. All gauges went to zero and all dashboard things stopped, including radio. Put in neutral, all gauges returned to normal and all lights functioned. Put back in drive and the same issuer with gear, speed, gauges, etc. Returned. Back in neutral so I could use hazard lights but then the entire car shut down. Had to tow to a dealership where the are telling me the throttle body has failed and needs replaced.

Several times over the past 3 years my 2007 Ford Fusion SE V6 would suddenly lose power. Engine would remain running but vehicle would not accelerate. Wrench light and engine light would illuminate when this occurs. Solution is to pull over and shut car completely off for 30 seconds and restart. Sometimes this would work for a few minutes or several 1000 miles before repeating again. I have had the car into the Ford dealer multiple times and they keep telling me they can not duplicate the problem. I have found 1000's of complaints online with the same issues for what appears to be a known issue at Ford with the throttle body assembly. I returned to the dealer with all of this information and was told the throttle body assembly would take weeks to get and that the replacement part is the exact oem part which has the same defect. Ford wants me to pay to replace a defective part with a defective part. The engine suddenly losing power is extremely dangerous if in high speed traffic the risk of a crash is even more of a concern. Why is Ford not fixing this issue on a recall? this is going to get people killed!

When speeding up to pass someone on the highway the car revved up to almost 6K RPM and jerked violently into the next gear. The wrench light came on shortly after and the car was parked. The next morning the light was off until a short trip to the mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic diagnosed the car and got 2 error codes. Both showing transmission failure.

Upon driving the speed became erratic and the car slowed down very quickly requiring me to pullover quickly for fear of a rear end collision. At that time I saw the wrench light on my dash. I feel that is a hazard that should be corrected under the warranty or as a recall from Ford company. The wait for parts is almost a month, Ford should give a loaner car as I am afraid to drive my car in traffic. Thank you

I was driving to houston from san antonio on I10 and going the speed limit. Shortly after starting my drive I was shocked by a slight jerk and a "wrench" symbol appear. I was in the center lane and hardly had any acceleration to move off the road. Eventually, I was able to get to the side of the highway, turn off my car and turn it back on. It allowed me to drive about 5 min before happening again. I ended up pulling of the road 8 times until I just decided to call aaa and pay additional fees to tow my car into houston. It was scary and def. A safety hazard for anyone experiencing this malfunction. I took the car to get a diagnostic and sure enough it's a throttle body failure. I drove today with no issues, but I am sure it will occur again very soon. Ford really needs to recall and think about their customer's safety.

Throttle body issue - confirmed since I just spent $930 at the Ford dealership to replace. Wife got in car at mall. First car would not start loose contact on terminal. She called me I jiggled wire, car started but you could push the pedal all the way down and only very slight power (wrench light on...). she parked the car as it would only go about 3 miles an hour and I turned it off and restarted the car to see if it would drive and it would not. Had to get it towed to planet Ford dealership who replaced the throttle body. The exact same issue had happened one week earlier but when I turned the car off and restarted the engine it ran fine. I had a mechanic do the codes the first time and it was throttle body and the Ford dealership did it the second time.

After an engine light came on, I took my car to have the code read. The code that appeared was for the throttle body. After doing some research, I discovered that there was a recall for the throttle body for the Ford Fusion from 2009 -2012. My car was not included in the recall, but my throttle body according to the dealership is "erratic". I feel that the recall on the throttle body may need to be reexamined as my car, only two years older than those being recalled, is having the same issue. The part should not go bad that quickly. The car has less than 100,000 miles.

Vehicle is a daily drive, experienced tsb 13-4-17, PCM failure causing the ignition coils to burn out on cylinder 4. vehicle was towed to Ford dealership, where vehicle was repaired, at a cost of over $2000. Immediately after the vehicle had a howl and vibration, vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and diagnosed as a transfer case (ptu) failure, this was a few days after leaving the Ford dealership. My local mechanic replaced the ptu at a cost of $1000. Vehicle was fine from November 2013 till just this past week March 6 2014 where a leak of gear oil was found in the driveway, car was brought to local Ford dealership which confirmed a leak of the seal on the transfer case (ptu). Vehicle has been brought to local mechanic that made the repair. I find it unbelievable that since this vehicle has hit 100K miles that it is in need of constant repair. I have owned many Ford and have never had an issue like this. After much research I have found that these are common problems!! Ford needs to do something about this!! they claim to have reliable vehicles but this is not reliable, especially since I bought this car as a certified pre-owned from a Ford dealership in July of 2010 I only got 3 good years out of this vehicle. Its a shame cause its such a beautiful car and now I have nothing but mechanical issues.

Loss of power, car would not go, stuck in busy traffic, shifts very hard transmission slipping. This has happened about tree or four times now. Called dealer they say they are unaware of problem, but it is all over the internet everyone having problems. Took it in but cost me 400 because of course it is out of warranty. Reprogrammed my transmission but now shifts at a higher RPM causing lower fuel mileage. They are having problems with the throttle bodies going bad because this was a collaboration with Mazda. Very expensive repair. No way these should be going bad at 70K. They need to replace transmissions at their cost.
