The vehicle would randomly lose its breaking efficiency. The brake pedal would go all the way to the floor and would require 3 times more distance to stop. The vehicle was taken to a Ford service center for repairs. The correction completed included: Test drive, found brake pedal is low due to air in the system, check for leaks, found master cylinder is leaking on the inside, replaced master cylinder, bleed brake system, perform ABS system bleed and retest. Then again on 02/14/2012 the issue reappeared without warning. Took vehicle back to Ford service center and the following corrections were completed. Test drive, cannot duplicate customers concerns at this time. (service center advised me that they bleed the brake, but didn't list it out on the report. On 04/11/12 again had the same issue come expectantly. Took the vehicle to a Ford service center and the following corrections were made. Found brake pedal goes to the floor and car does not stop very well. Found ABS valve is stuck open, R&R ABS module, replace hcu, bleed brake system, perform ABS system bleed, bleed brake system again and retest.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while having an oil change performed, the mechanic noticed that the rear brakes were worn. The mechanic replaced the rear brakes. The contact later noticed that the ABS light was illuminated so the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test that located the failure as the ABS module having malfunctioned and needing to be replaced. The contact did not have the ABS module replaced. The failure mileage was 12,000.

The rear caliper on the brakes is seizing, similar to what I have heard with many other Fusion owners. A tsb or recall needs to be filed for this as it is unsafe.

In 2008, on my 2008 Ford Fusion SE 4 cylinder, the dealer I bought the vehicle from replaced the two rear caliper clips due to a loud clicking noise. I visited the same dealer I purchased the vehicle from on several visits since 2008, for the same problem with the front caliper clips, which have been making a loud clicking noise when going in reverse or in drive for two years now! I was told the mechanic didn't experience any problems during his test drive. I took the vehicle to two other Ford dealers, they told me the mechanic's couldn't duplicate the problem. I was told by the last dealer, the breaks will make a clicking noise when backing up. I made another appointment with the purchasing dealer, and asked them why my 2006 Ford Fusion didn't have this problem? the service technician didn't have an answer. I'm going to inform them they have to drive the vehicle forwards and backwards several times to duplicate the problem. I'm also going to contact Ford customer service in Michigan to see what they can do. If needed, I will start contacting executive management, like I had to do on my lemon Mazda 626 years ago. I got a Mazda vp involved, and the whole dealership was jumping through hoops, and fixed the problems on the spot. I don't blame this on Ford, I blame it on the vendor's that make the defective parts they purchase from.

On a 2008 Ford Fusion SE 4 cylinder I have had to replace the right rear brakes twice before 50,000 miles. It appears the calipers are sticking. I even spoke with Ford mechanics that say this is a problem but no recall has been filed. I looked on line and seems to be well known, but nothing has been done.
