CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

Fusion SE 2.5L

Went to the car wash, the attendant came and told me the car would not start. The transmission showed the car was in drive, even though it was in park. Car was towed to the dealer, Hemborg Ford in Norco, CA. They diagnosed the problem as a broken shift cable and ordered a new one and said it would be two weeks. Now 6 weeks later still waiting for the part to arrive. WTF? 6 weeks and no end in sight? I repeat WTF?

Fusion ES 1.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

Car is beautiful, love everything about it when I bought it. It was doing just fine for the last 7 months then out of the no where it would not come out of park. I cycled the key 3 or 4 time and then with brake applied (as every time before I tried to en-gauge shift out of park) it came out of park. I took to dealer ship and no problems where found. Car was doing fine by this time. Took home and drove for 1 week and the same thing happened, after several keys cycles it came out of park. Called dealer and advised of issue. The very next day it done it again. Car is now being towed to dealer with shifter not coming out of park. Results of findings are now pending.
