A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I was aware of the recall on the shifter cable bushing but at the time I had the 1st recall done they did not have the parts, so I was going to wait for the other parts to come in, but on Saturday I pulled into my driveway, put the car in park (or I thought ) and was about to get out of the car when it rolled backwards. I slammed on my brakes to make the car stop from rolling and realized that the cars parking brake did not engage. I started my vehicle and the dash said it was still in neutral so I called my husband out of panic. He asked me some questions and I was unable to move the shifter into any gear.

I put the E-brake on so the car would not roll and placed a brick behind a tire for added safety. I was unable to call anyone the following day due to it being a Sunday so I waited until Monday to call my nearest dealership for advice. I was assured that Ford would pay for the tow bill since the car had broke down due to the recall that Ford put out so I called a towing company and had it towed.

I informed my husband that Ford would pay for the tow bill and any other charges but he wanted to bring my vehicle back to the house since Ford still did not have the bushing cable, the dealership could only replace the entire cable and he was fearful that Ford would not cover the cable since it was not part of the recall.

We drove to the dealership and was once again reassured by the dealership that Ford would pay for the charges even the cable so we left my car and was loaned another for $35 a day that Ford may not pay for.

So I called for an update and was told that the shifter cable would not be available for another month to a month and a half. What?!!!?? So here we are, no car, still broken, no help from Ford and out money for a tow bill as well as a rental. We will be going to get our vehicle to do the work ourselves so we won't be charged $525 for parts and labor on a recall that Ford out. Oh and Ford told the dealership it was not an actual recall it was pre-recall or something like that.

We have already file a complaint with NHTSA regarding this issue and will not stop there. They need to do something and help their customers instead of empty promises.
