unintended acceleration

As I was pulling in to the parking lot into stall foot on break ..going 3 mph just about to stop the car all of a sudden the car rpm just sky rocket like some one push the gas and floor it. With one foot on brake I had to put 2 feet on brakes but it still drag me into the store 2 feet on the brakes, the car push it way inside...rpm didn't stop until I had to turn off the key ...no one believed me but I look for years into this matter...like I said 2 feet were on brakes and car didn't crash going fast into store but push itself in ...If I didn't have my feet on brakes car would have done a lot more then it did...

After years I found the flaw is if the floor Matt's are push under the gas pedal to far up it will trigger the gas pedal to floor it...keep in mind the floor matt was not on top of gas pedal but under the gas pedal push up under it cause the carpet little hook that hold the Matt's wear off..so floor Matt was push under gas triggering the sensor that send signal to electric throttle body with out warning.

We are the original owners of a 2006 Mustang GT. This incident has happened about three to four times within the past four years. After starting up the car, I put the car into drive and at a low MPH, the car jolted forward, twice! I go to brake, and the issue does not respond to the foot brake. I throw the car quickly into park as to avoid hitting my co-workers' car. This is so unsafe!

I looked up the issue here on Car Complaints, and see that it is an issue many people are having. I called Ford and supposedly there is no recall for this issue. That is insane! A car that accelerates unexpectedly that cannot be stopped via a foot brake is so incredibly unsafe. Luckily, I have not hit anything while this has happened. . . .yet. But the jolt forward is significant and one day may very well cause some serious damage. What if the car did this at a red light while a pedestrian was crossing? Ford needs to recall this immediately.

Mustang GT 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

On Monday February 24 2014 at around 12:45pm, I was on my way home from work. I was sitting in my 2006 Ford Mustang GT in bumper to bumper traffic due to construction on the Grand Central Parkway(Queens NY) heading towards the Van Wyck Expressway(East to Brooklyn NY). As traffic started to move up slowly, I had pressed on the gas pedal to move forward and without hesitation the car jumps from 7 mph to full throttle. Even when i had applied the brakes ( i felt the brakes on the rotors but it didn't stop) the vehicle had stayed stuck on full throttle and had struck the vehicle in front of me. It bounced off the 1st vehicle and it was at this point I had placed both feet on the brakes, to the point where I was standing on them with my head hitting the roof of the car. The car proceeded on (still in full throttle and brakes applied) and smashed in between two other vehicles further up and after that collision thats when the car finally had came to a stop. I never heard or seen any vehicle take off on its own like that. Two days after the accident I had asked around on Facebook on several mustang enthusiast/club pages and no one has heard of this happening. A week later my insurance company totaled out my vehicle and left me with no car and now I'm left to pay $3000 dollars difference on my loan and $500 to my insurance company. I also asked on Ford's Facebook page and I was given a number from a customer relations representative. I had called Ford and they said they never heard of this and "what will i like to do with this?". I almost gave up hope on finding help on this matter until a friend of mine told me about car complaints.com. I loved that car and went thru a lot just to keep that car. Now it takes me 2 1/2 hrs just to get to work. That whole situation left me depressed and frustrated. If I knew of this problem before purchasing this car I would have stayed away from an 06 and probably went to a newer model or went after a different manufacture.
