Vehicle experienced sudden and unexpected loss of engine throttle sometimes in high-speed situations, activation of limp home mode, check engine light, and engine malfunction indicator. Diagnostic code reported failure of electronic throttle body, code dtc P2111. Dealer confirmed electronic throttle body assembly fault basic part 9F991 and replaced, extremely similar to NHTSA investigation PE13-003.

Today I was accelerating to get on the freeway. I took my foot off the pedal to slow down and the car kept accelerating. I then stepped on the brakes and the car kept accelerating. I slam on the brakes ad the car finally started to slow down. Took my phone off the brakes and the car once again accelerated. I again stood on the brakes and was able to get the car to stop on the side of the freeway. Scary stuff. Car was towed to dealer today.

Defective electronic throttle body (etb) as per code P2111. Ford customer service is excluding Mustangs from the customer satisfaction program 13N03 - which clearly states there is a problem with etbs during this time. Looking over the internet, it is clear that 2011 Mustangs where built with the same type of etb as the models covered under the program (Fusion, escape, Mercury mariner and Mercury Milan). The program extends the warranty on the throttle body to a total of 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date, which ever occurs first. This car is extremely dangerous to drive as it basically stalls and cannot be restarted without turning the ignition completely off - which in turn turns off power asset to steering and brakes. This stalling condition occurs randomly without warning in traffic. In this case vehicle barely out of factory warranty.

Four incidents of "limp home" operation in three consecutive outings with an obd-II diagnostic on the final drive indicating P2111--a fault with the electronic throttle control. The dealership was contacted and their official word was "they had not heard of any issues like mine." The electronic throttle body (etb) was replaced and the problem eliminated.

While driving my 2011 Ford Mustang down the road the check engine light and the wrench light came on and lost all power, the engine never died but would only idle very rough. I took it to have the code read out, it showed a code P2111 throttle body actuator wide open. It has done the same thing 2 times today. Once you pull over and cut the engine off then restart it will run fine, but not for long before doing the same thing again. I got online to see what the code P2111 means, to my surprise this seems to be a big problem on Mustangs, escapes, and Fusion. Ford has issued an extended warranty on certain throttle bodies.this could potentially be a serious safety problem loosing power while driving down the high way.

My wife, who is three months pregnant, was driving down the road when the wrench light came on and vehicle lost power and went into what I am hearing is "limp mode". the car losses power, never shuts off, it reduces the rpms to about 600 and speed to about 10 to 12 mph. When this happened to her she just barely got off the road before an 18 wheeler hit her from behind. When I arrived on scene I cut the vehicle off for about 10 sec. Then started it back up and it ran fine. This happened twice more before the check engine light came on. When I scanned the car trouble code P2111 displayed saying failed throttle body. I reset the computer went to the dealership and was told it would be about $170 andthere was about a 50% chance they would not be able to determine the problem so I kept my money and left. Doing some research on the internet I have found many different forums where people with Mustangs are having the same issue with their etb ( electronic throttle body) on their vehicle but Ford says there is no issue. While doing my research I found where Ford issued a customer satisfaction program no. 13N03 on Fusion, escapes, and milians for a defective ebt but the Mustang is not covered or acknowledged even though the problem described is the same exact issue that im having. This has happened to us about 10 different times since the first instance. It's a known issue as far as I am concerned and a major safety issue. Please help.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated and would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000.

When driving down the street all of a sudden it won't accelerate although the engine is still running. I had it towed to a Ford dealership the first time it happened. They told me nothing was wrong. It has been doing it sporadically since then but got so bad the other day I had to have it towed in again. This time they replaced the throttle body. If they had caught it the first time while it was under warranty I wouldn't have had to pay $556.72 today. Luckily the safety problem never happened to me while I was driving on the expressway! updated 012/24/2014

Was accelerating to merge with traffic on freeway when my car would not shift and the clutch pedal depressed to the floor. I was in the middle of merging and lost the ability to shift or control why vehicle. It created a very unsafe situation and Ford issued a recall for this very same issues for earlier Mustang.

While driving at different speeds, the car will just loses control of the gas pedal. It goes into a coast mode. You have to coast to safety and turn off the ignition and restart. My daughter was almost hit by an 18-wheeler on the bypass going about 50 mph. Sometimes, it will do this one time per day, sometimes every few minutes. I have only had this car 2 months when this problem began. I have contacted a dealership about the problem, and it will cost at a minimum $600. I have read the complaints filed, and feel that this should be placed under a recall for these vehicles. My vehicle has 56,000 miles on it, and should not be having these issues. If you were on an interstate or major highway, there might not be a way to exit before causing a major wreck.

Received error code P2111, the car will bog down without notice and I cannot accelerate. This happens often and it does not matter if I am going slow or fast. The research I have done shows this to be a faulty throttle body. I found a website which shows "affected owners should contact Ford and mention consumer satisfaction program 13N03." I plan on calling joe myers Ford in houston, tx tomorrow 3/5/14.

I was pulling out from a business on to a major highway. There were no warnings, suddenly the car just would not go forward. I was in the middle, crosswise of the road. I finally got the car to go forward in little increments until I got off the road. The motor was still running but very little forward movement from the car. I had it towed to the dealership and they said it was the throttle body that had gone bad. If there had been any traffic, I would be dead, because the car would not move forward.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled numerous times without warning. The wrench warning light illuminated after the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken the to the dealer several times for the failure who located the failure at the throttle body. The throttle body was replaced but the failure recurred and caused the contact to crash into the proceeding vehicle rear end. There was no injury to report. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for further inspection. The failure mileage was 36,264 and current mileage was 36,508.
