dirt sucked into the interior

The dust that sucks into the interior, particularly in the back seat, is horrendous whenever a door is opened. I found this shortly after purchasing this used car. I frequently have a grandson riding in the back seat and have photography equipment back there. We live 4 miles from an oiled road and many trips have to be made on various other gravel and limestone rock roads (talk about nasty!) The service technician where I bought it said there is nothing wrong with the seals around the doors. Considering trading it off and definitely test driving on a dirt road AND opening the doors on it afterwards!

problem #1

Jul 012014

Taurus SHO 3.57 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,500 miles

We purchased the car the end of January 2014. We hadn't driven it on a gravel road until July 2014, only to find out dust leaked in the back doors really bad. After driving on the gravel road, I opened up the back doors only to find dust all over the back seats and all around the doors. The dust just rolled out all over when I opened the doors. The previous owner either had never driven on a gravel road, or never had the problem fixed.

The dealer we purchased the car from looked it up and said their was a fix for it, but the cost of the fix was no longer covered by Ford. The estimate to fix it is $1,450.00 to $1,500.00 to fix it. We have no choice but to get it fixed, as my husband has a bad lung problem, but Ford isn't covering the problem, which is just wrong, as it had been a reported problem and they supposedly covered it early on. A car with 28,000 miles when we purchased it should have still been covered for this problem if you ask me.
