I was searching for another problem with my Transit Connect (engine misfire) when I stumbled upon this exploding glass phenomena and realized it had happened to me, so I thought I'd share. In my case, I was driving down the road when I was startled by a loud bang. I then observed in my rear view mirror that the right hand door glass on the rear of my van was blown out! Craze cracks extended to the edges and there was a hole about the size of a softball in the window! The rest of the glass crumbled when touched, leaving quite a mess of broken glass. My insurance covered the repair, but why would this happen anyway??!!
