In my 2002 Windstar the ABS and brake lights come on while driving and will go off only to come back on another time while driving. In 2009 we had the safety recall taken care of, but it did not resolve the issue. Now I am noticing while I have the van running, heat and radio on, the radio and clock lights will go on and off. Also, the back doors do not always unlock and it will take several times of pressing the power door locks to unlock before they will unlock. I am fearful there will be an issue and I will need to get my daughter out quickly and won't be able to because of the door lock issue.

2002 Ford Windstar - having issues with emergency brake light on, ABS light on and traction control light on. Have done some research and this is a very common problem that has not been recalled. Braking distance is greatly increased. ABS system does not function.

ABS light and brake light coming on and staying on for unknown reasons. When light is on the ABS brakes do not work right. Mechanic has checked it many, many times and each time gets a different code. Light comes on intermittent. Comes on regardless of how long driven that day, weather, temperature, or any other changes. This problem has been ongoing for at least a year.

I have a 2002 Ford Windstar. There was a Ford recall #09S09B to correct the ABS/brake light issue. I went to a Ford dealership in my area on 05/27/10 to have the matter corrected but after I left the dealership, I still have the same problem. I am driving this vehicle with fear since the problem has not been corrected and it can result in a fire.

ABS light comes and goes, sometimes on and sometimes off. Will it be there when I need it. I drive on roads covered with ice and snow in the winter and carry my grandchildren. I worry for their safety.

I have a 2002 Ford Windstar van, while driving, the van the ABS light, traction control light and the emergency brake light all come on at the same time. They remain on until I park the van. If I turn the van back on the lights are off, but once I begin driving again all three warning lights come on. I have had the van. I have read that there is a serious problem with this happening in Ford Windstar vans and it has resulted in fires. I am terrified to drive the van now, and would like to know when there will be a recall. This has been going on with my van, especially since the weather has gotten warmer.

Various warning lights coming on, ABS, brake light, odometer reading dashes only and overdrive lights started blinking while driving. Electrical diagnosis and pinpoint test by Ford found that the fuse blown due to the brake pressure switch leaking fluid through the wiring harness to the speed control servo and melting the servo. Two days after the repair, the ABS light and brake light started coming on again. Tested again by Ford dealer, they said it's a faulty ECU module.

The emergency brake on the 2002 Ford Windstar is defective. I've had it into the dealer numerous times and they say they fix it but nothing ever changes. It sometimes takes two or three pulls on the emergency brake to engage it- irritating if you're parking on a hill and unsafe in a real emergency situation.

Emergency brake sometimes engages while driving or backing out of my driveway in the morning. The brake light on the dash comes on when this occurs. Dealer cannot find a problem after at least three attempts to fix it. The emergency brake sometimes pops when engaged also - as if the cable snapped or slipped. You have to put the lever down and reset it.
