The ABS and other brake light stays lit constantly. I just had the car inspected and there is nothing wrong with the brakes. I have read that this is a huge problem with this model van, and has caused engine fires. I would appreciate it if you would look further into recalling this vehicle.

problem #47

Aug 312012

Windstar 6-cyl

  • 94,950 miles
ABS/brake lights turn on intermittently. There seems to be any correlation to any particular driving condition, speed, force of braking, etc. Ford dealership diagnosed the problem as an ABS module failure. They also state that failure to rectify the issue would result in probable failure of the brake system in general at any given time. The quote for the repair is anywhere up to $1,000. Ford Motor Company offered zero assistance/advice in the matter. Consequently, the driver's side window no longer functions.

- Indian Trail, NC, USA

problem #46

Windstar 6-cyl

  • 100,000 miles
ABS and brake lamps intermittently come on. ABS is disabled when the lamps are on. This problem occurs frequently. The lamps come on when you start the van and stay lit, but sometimes for weeks the lamps do not come on at all and the ABS works. I would estimate the lamps are on 60-70% of the time.
