ABS and brake light illuminate indicating an ABS failure. Lights turn on anywhere from immediately to 15 minutes upon starting vehicle. Vehicle has been assessed by mechanic, mechanic stated that component replacement would cost approximately $1000. ABS parts are faulty.
As I was driving on the highway the 'check advance track' light came on. The light has been coming on and for couple of weeks now. Check with a mechanic and was told might be a ABS sensor.
The ABS warning light will randomly come on and stay on until the vehicle is turned off. This happens occasionally, but not every time the vehicle is driven. It happens all different speeds, not just one speed zone. I am reporting this because I found out it is becoming a common issue for many people with this type of vehice.

Dashboard indicated failure of anti-lock braking system. Code reader reports C1185 and cannot be cleared. ABS system completely inoperative. Repairs would require replacement of anti lock brake controller/computer.
ABS light and brake light comes on and interior lights flash and all gauges going crazy and run all the time causing my battery to die everyday. Its a new battery and now its drained.

New tires..nope....all new brake system...nope....brake fluid, changed and checked over and over....nope....tired of going to get the car serviced and every one guessing at it....got no more money to throw at the lemon of a car!
ABS & brake light intermittently come on. Brake fluid level is normal. Brake pads & shoes are good. No other problems with hydraulic system. No brake fluid leaks.
I had prior brake issues. Took my van to be inspected and had complete rear brakes replaced and front brakes were still ok, not needing replacement. After about 20 miles on my way out of town on my new brakes, the ABS and brake lights came on. Got back in town and took it back to where I got the new brakes. They said the brakes were fine, just not seated yet, so they ran a scan. My van threw the code C1185 (ABS control module circuit relay) and I was told I needed to have an electrical diagnosis done.
On my 2003 Windstar I have been having problems with the ABS for quite some time don't know the exact time that it first happened its been a few years. The ABS lights come on and shut off periodically. As of today the check engine light came on and the ABS and brake lights came on. And the cigarette lighter fuse keeps blowing I went to get the codes read and the fuse was blown so I changed it and it blew right away again so put in one more so the codes could be read. It came up with 18 codes from just one day they are C1145, C1234, C1185, C1198, C1194, C1254, C1246, C1250, C1242, C1214, C1210, C1446, U1262, B1318 all having to do with the ABS they could tell me exactlly what was going on and told me to google it. Also codes P0171, P0174.
ABS and brake light would go on and off intermittently beginning around 55000 miles. The mechanic told me Ford were known for this, but should not present a problem. Back wheels started smoking and leaking fluid at 76000. This contaminated the wheel wells and brake pads. The ABS/brake light also stay on consistently now. Repaired the problem and ran a diagnostic on the ABS. Mechanic told me I had a faulty ABS module that the dealer would have to repair. Have not done that yet, looking to see if there has been a recall on this problem. Apparently Ford has not addressed this issue. I have this van to Transport my disabled son, now concerned that our safety is at risk.
The brake light has been coming on, the check engine light has been on for some time, and the vehicle is currently leaking what appears to be brake fluid.
ABS light come on after vehicle warm up also brake light come on at the same time. Going to garage tomorrow to check on recalls and to see is the is a serious problems on Windstar. From what I been reading on the internet it seem to be a major problem for Windstar owners.
The brake and ABS light came on the day after I bought the 2003 Windstar. I had to do some research to figure out that it needed a little bit of work because the previous owner lied about why they wanted to sell the van. They said nothing was wrong with it and it ran great. Well now there are some major issues with the Windstar. Shortly after the brake and ABS light came on the engine light came on. Now I am trying to come up with the money to fix this problem.
