ABS brake lights come on intermittent. First time noticed was on vacation and coming to a stop at a toll booth and both lights come on. Has happened several times since. Ford dealership wont do anything about it. I see there has been a recall on this. How about another recall?
Parking brake light and ABS light remain on while operating--soft brakes--unreliable ABS took in to dealership and they diagnosed concern as "found ABS ECU causing light to come on".
My ABS light keeps coming on and sometimes my van don't want to stop. The brakes give out but all brake pads seem to be ok. Light comes on about 60mph. My van the last few days has been having very bad electrical issues that causes my van to die as well.
Parking brake and ABS warning lights usually (but not always) illuminate. It happens less often in the cold. When illuminated, the ABS system is not functional.

Anti skid system failed during a heavy rain. Almost hit a vehicle in front of me who's brakes stopped him in time from a major collision. Have not fixed the problem since because it is the major hub of the ABS braking system that failed.
ABS light along with brake indicator light is on. Multiple defect codes for ABS module shown on scanner. Brakes not fully stopping vehicle when depressed. Bought vehicle in May 2014. Cruise control acting funny.
The brake light and the ABS light comes on when not engaged. At the same time the doors unlock (when driving) with "rear passage door unlock" appears. The doors try to lock and unlock. Also happens when stopping and going over bumps in the road. Took to the mechanic and he is unable to explain what is happening. Very unsafe. Did not know about this reporting site.
The ABS and brake warning lamps are intermittently coming on. I had the system checked by two different certified auto repair shops and both responded that there were several codes creating the problem. They also mentioned the only solution is to replace the ABS control module. After doing research on my own, I concluded that this is a common problem with the majority of 2003 Ford Windstar owners. I believe the ABS modules are not manufacture correctly creating this problem. I also believe this is something that Ford needs to address on the 2003 Windstar.
The ABS/brake light indicator came on. It sometimes will go off (usually when there is road salt on the road. It stays on and will not turn off. I took it to the Ford dealer thinking it was the brakes/or the brake sensors. They said it was the ABS control module failing. It was too expensive for me to replace. When the indicator was off I took the car for emissions inspection and it passed. Now the emissions inspection is due and the lights are still on. I do not want to spend $900 to replace the part on an eleven year old car especially since there is no guarantee that is the exact problem.
I purchased the car used in 2006. It worked fine for about a year. The brakes had worn out and the ABS light and the brake light was on. After replacing the brakes, the lights came on and off randomly on different days. The mechanics could not duplicate the problem. Now the lights come on steady after I drive awhile and stay on until I shut the vehicle off. I have had 4 brake jobs since, but that has not fixed the problem. I was told that the problem was probably the ABS module as that was a common problem with Windstar's. I am afraid to drive the car more than a half mile as the ABS brakes do not work when the lights are on.
We were on vacation going thru mountains in w va when the ABS light and brake light came on. We pulled into a Ford dealer in statesville, nc. They could not determine what the problem was as it was not occurring all the time. The brake and ABS lights would go out for a period of time and come back on. Recently we took the van into a midas repair shop. They thought it was the wheel sensor and replaced it. When the problem came back the next day they thought it was a bad bearing on the front drivers side and we replaced it. Today the light is back on and after taking it into the repair shop again they are now telling us it is the ABS control module. We have dealt with this issue for the past 2 years. Lights going out for a period of time only to come back on. Today we called the local Ford dealer to see if their was a possible recall on this issue. We have read about others having these same issues. We were told that their was no recall at this time.
