I bought this car a week ago. The person who sold was the only owner since beginning. I never heard about similar issues. I worry about since steering turn hard to slow speed or applying reverse. I want to know if somebody already fixed this issue earlier. I'm living in Mexico since then it's not possible make a personal complain. So if somebody knows about to fix this issue, please help me.

Acadia SLT 3.6L V6

I purchased a 2009 GMC Acadia SLT in November of 2011, immediately after buying it I was shocked about a month later when i took it in to local GM Dealer here, Greg Lair GMC @ 16200 Interstate 27, Canyon, TX 79015. Was informed that it was the Power Steering Pump and that it needed to be replaced but Was relieved when told that it was going to a covered expense and repair. Was good with it for a while in till the same issue keep occurring over and over again, the pump has been replaced multiple times and i have had it with this vehicle as a matter of fact I will not have it replaced again because they are now telling me that the repair will not be covered and that the cost is in the mid $2000 to repair, I will not be spending anymore money on this vehicle or on any GM products that are out there, time to move on and visit my local Toyota or Nissan Dealerships, i have already for the past few years and will continue to highly recommend anyone and everyone that ask for any opinion of mine about GM vehicles to clearly stay away there is to many complications mechanically and the problems are never fixed for the long term. Wish I could say thank you GM for the service that I have received from you as a company, but I can not without feeling disgusted that I spent 8 years of my life fighting for you rights as a United States Marine.

I noticed the problem only when making sharp turns, thought it need power steering fluid but that was not the problem. I called GM about a potential recall and I told them the problem I was experiencing. The lady informed me of a special coverage and suggested I have it serviced since I was under the milage for it. Sure enough the power steering pump and housing was the issue.

Acadia SLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

In June I started to notice while making slow left turns that my steering felt as thought it was locking up. I drove it this way until one day I was pulling out of a parking lot and could NOT turn my steering wheel. I had to crank on the wheel for it to release and finally turn. There was no way I could continue to drive my family in this vehicle so I made an appointment with GM. Of course when I took it in they could not duplicate the issue so their "best guess" was to replace the steering gear. So 2 days and 1,400 dollars later I'm driving it home and it happens again. I called GM a week later (after calming down) to inform them the problem was not resolved. I took to back and did a test drive with the garage manager and FINALLY he was able to duplicate the issue several times. He found he could duplicate the issue while accelerating into a slow turn. They did some diagnostic testing and found the steering pump was the issue and will also need to be replaced for around $1,000. This seems to be a reoccurring issue with the GMC Acadia. Why is GM not making this a recall?
