When the brakes are applied in wet weather conditions they will not work. Brakes have to B pumped.dealer was contacted, and stated that the recall that was being enforced did not apply to this vehicle.
When driving at highway speed and when turning a corner at 15 mph, applied the brakes, and ABS system kicked in, causing the vehicle to slide. Also, power brake systmem went and transmission went failed. In addition, dealer replaced the brake pads.

On two occasions brakes failed to stop vehicle. Both times vehicle was slowing down for complete stop when a loud high pitch sound came from the vehicle, and brake pedal went down to the floor; vehicle failed to stop. Vehicle was inspected on both occasions. First time, master cylinder was replaced, but it did not solve problem. Currently, vehicle is still in the repair shop. Seeking help from NHTSA.
When the brakes were applied under normal braking, pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance, and causing an accident and minor injuries dealer and the manufacturer have been notified.
This is the second Jimmy I drive (too loyal for my own good.) the first one a 1995. Also had a booster failure at around 40,000+ miles (luckily I was able to coast on that occasion to a full stop without causing any damage to anyone. This one a 1996 has failed, like clockwork, at 45,000 miles.
Anti-lock brakes failed numerous times on off-ramp. Almost caused serious accident. Brakes pads, rotors and master cylinder replaced with no improvement. I contacted General Motors, they claim problem is caused by "stupid drivers".
ABS brakes have been replaced three times. When brakes are applied they vibrate and extended stopping distance occurs. Brakes wear out. Right wheel seems loose. Dealer contacted and attempted to remedy the problem. Problem still exists.
While driving at 20mhp brakes gave out. When applied the brake pedal went to the floor, and brakes made a grinding sound. The vehicle stopped after coasting about 30 feet. Dealer was contacted, and told consumer that they could find nothing wrong with brake system.
The defective braking system malfunctioned due to a electronic braking module which resulted in loss of braking system. The pedal went to the floor which almost resulted an accident. Dealer replaced electronic braking module and the valve assembly.
EA9-4038; brakes would make noise, and on ice or water the problem got worse, the dealer cannot duplicate the problem. States that the brakes are of vehicle design.
Driving less than 5 mph on a rainy day on incline went to apply brakes, heard loud noise. Brakes became inoperative, causing the vehicle to pass through intersection, and longer stopping distance. Prior to this, dealer had replaced rotors and shoes.
Consumer was coming off a ramp at approximately 15-20 mph went to apply brakes when vehicle began to pulsate, and felt as though vehicle was accelerating instead of slowing down. Heard noise and wheel rotating. Vehicle proceeded to roll forward for at least 20 feet, causing the consumer to rearend vehicle in front.dealer cannot determine problem.
