This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving and coming to stop consumer had to use excessive force to stop. While coming down a hill at about 25 mph and coming to a stop applied the brakes, and consumer felt ABS was trying to kick in, and then pedal went straight to the floor. GMC service dealer was suppose to fix all recalls that needed to be done. Dealer told consumer there were no recalls to be done. Consumer feels that this is a safety concern. Recall 99V193000.
ABS continually failing, dealer can't duplicate, repaired at least four times. Brakes grind on rough surfaces ie gravel brakes make a sound when driving down the road, I'm driving my two children around and no one will fix, or replace, or give my money back on this car. Very unsatisfied with dealer and service department and car.
Rear ended by truck which propelled vehicle into back of camper. Thus a rear end collision, immediately followed by a front end collision. Both front seat backs broke causing the driver and passenger to be violently slammed into the back seat area. The driver (only)air bag did not deploy. The ABS system failed upon application of the brakes, just prior to being rear ended by the tractor trailer truck which weighed 77,000 pounds and was going approximately 75mph. The truck driver admitted to the police that he never sloed down or applied his brakes.
While driving at 40mph brake pedal was applied, pedal was very hard and consumer had to use two feet. Anti-skid system activated, and then brakes released, causing vehicle to rear end another vehicle. Dealer has not been contacted.
While driving at about 30 consumer tried to put on brakes before coming to the intersection and brake pedal went to the floor. Consumer let the pedal up again and tried to put on brakes, and car still did not stop. Was forced to go through the intersection. Now pedal will go to the floor before and then stop.
While driving at any speed the brake pedal goes to the floor causing noise which results in failure. However, vehicle was taken to dealer on two occasions, dealer cannot determine the problem.
Was driving vehicle approimately. 50mph when another vehicle made a turn in front of consumer's vehicle. Applied ABS brakes, vehicle failed to stop right away. Had a slow reaction time. Taking vehicle to dealer's to check.
While traveling in rush hour traffic at a speed of 50 mph consumer tried to apply the brakes to stop and the ABS did not allow maximum braking to stop vehicle.
When the brakes were applied at 35mph, the pedal went to the floor resulting in extended stopping, causing a minor injury. The dealer has been notified.
