I own a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500. I have always taken exceptional care of my vehicle. The motor has always had a knock when you start it, which devalues the truck & it also has always used oil. The rack & pinion has started leaking. I have always owned a truck & have never had a rack & pinion go out let alone at 152000 miles.it also is losing antifreeze but there are no leaks. The fuel gauge has never worked properly, now its also flashes low coolant light when its not low. I have seen numerous complaints on line concerning these same issues & lawsuits. I do not feel the consumer should be having to foot these bills. I have called GM about my concerns & they say there is nothing they can do. What can we do to get a recall for all these problems. My truck is one of the ones that have dex-cool antifreeze.

Exhaust manifold bolt breakage, I'm writing in regards to my 2001 GMC Sierra w/5.3 liter motor, I have recently discovered a bolt broken off on my head that mounts my exhaust manifold is a defective or inferior product used by GMC this repair should not be necessary for any vehicle if the proper materials were used during original assembly of the vehicle by GMC or any other company in that regard, this repair is a very expensive according to my mechanic to the sum of $760+tax to repair and if it is not fixed it can lead to catalytic converter failure amongst other emission failures as well and possibly fire in the engine compartment as well due to excessive hot exhaust heat escaping from the broken bolt area into engine compartment, as for this complaint I have done some research on this matter and have found a large majority of other GMC owners with this same problem and are not very happy with GMC's inability to own up to responsibility as a manufacturer to fix this obvious and expensive defect due to inferior or improper material used on these vehicles, so any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated by all GMC owners affected by this consistent problem..

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 that stalls on a constant basis while going a low speeds. This problem has been happening since I purchased the truck a few years ago but has gotten a lot worse recently. The truck stalls several times every day now while coming to a stop. I have to pull over to the side of the road and the truck will restart instantly until it stalls again at the next stop. I checked your web site and there are some recalls for crank sensors for GMC Sierra, but not the 1500 model, which is what I have. My truck has the exact same problems described in the crank sensor case. Several times cars have been behind me while my truck stalled and this could have caused an accident.
